What does the opening day OF and DH look like?
Lf-
Cf-
Rf- Adolis I would assume
Dh-

1B-Lowe
2B-Ibanez/Solak
3B-Jung
SS-Story/IKF
C-Heim/Trevino

Who would make a good trade partner for an OF assuming we’re trading IKF and possibly more their way?
assuming that the Rangers are wanting to look at what we've got including some that showed some promise at the MLB level, i'm going to go with:

LF FA who won't cost an arm and leg like Taylor or Canha
CF DJ Peters
RF Adolis
4th OF'er Taveras
DH think we look at a couple prospects possible Walker or Thompson

meaning we move on from Calhoun.

also believe we trade IKF, Guzman and Trevino and go with Huff at catcher and our bench would be Heim, Y. Hernandez, Ibanez and Taveras, guys we can easily shift to the minors and bring up others as needed.

Two Rangers made Baseball America's AFL report this morning.

Ezequiel Duran, SS, Rangers — The Saguaros went wild on Thursday, with 17 runs on 14 hits in a win over Scottsdale. Duran, who came from the Yankees to the Rangers in the Joey Gallo trade, was at the forefront. The sweet-swinging infielder clubbed three hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run as part of a 3-for-5 night with three runs and five RBIs. Duran has bounced around the dirt during his time in the AFL, but his offensive skills should play no matter where he winds up.

Owen White, RHP, Rangers — White's second start wasn't as stellar as his first, but the 23-year-old righty continued to make up for all the time he lost by putting together another five-inning outing. This time he allowed a pair of runs (both earned) while striking out four and walking one. His hiccup came in the second inning, when he allowed a pair of runs—including one on a home run to Cleveland prospect Richie Palacios. His 10 innings are the most in the AFL, and his 0.80 WHIP and .147 batting average against are each the best on the circuit.

And we're down a few posters from last year as well, I believe.
It looks like so far we have lost Crawler and Wasting and gained DTC and Uncle Siggy, when comparing this October with last October. I think Crawler will be back soon. We also lost our Admin guy, Foardman. I think the SportsHoopla higherups alienated him.

donaldson doesn't come around anymore as well.

edit: unless he wasn't around then either, then that wouldn't count.

know it's early and the off-season hasn't even started yet but i looked at 3 or 4 sites that are predicting where the top 25 FA's will end up and only one of them even mentioned the Rangers as interested in one player (Trevor Story) and obviously none of them said the Rangers end up with any of them. the probably don't consider the Rangers owners or FO being serious competitors.

hope they're wrong

I don't even know what sites you were looking at, and I can confidently say most of their picks are going to be deadass wrong.

From Evan Grant:

When the Rangers do act, their first signing will be important. Jump out on the rest of baseball to get one of their premium targets and it will serve notice that the club is serious about the next step in the rebuild. It might make players who are unmotivated about how far the Rangers have to go take a second look and listen. Get somebody universally respected in the game and it might serve as a recruiting tool. At least much more of one than any video or trinkets a team could offer for a meeting.

“Good players want to win,” GM Chris Young said directly. “They want to play with other good players.”

Yeah, I looked all through October of last year and I didn't see a post from him.

More from Grant's article:

More on that: “I think [with] every signing these are going to be players identifying what we’re building here and choosing to be a part of it. I don’t think we’re signing anybody at any certain time to send a message. But we are choosing and targeting the right players and certainly being strategic in that we want good players to come who want to be a part of this. Signing as many players as we can to send a message, that’s not the purpose.”

Eh, maybe not. But the Rangers need send only one message to get the point across.

Pay what it requires to take the first shortstop off the market and you send the message. Will it cost extra to do so? Probably. If that’s Corey Seager, great. Dodgers guy. Worked with Chris Woodward. A World Series winner. Plays the game hard. Doesn’t invite a ton of attention upon himself. All good.

But don’t discount the value of signing Carlos Correa. Sure, fans will continue to boo him around the country. Sure, he hit a big playoff home run and pointed to an imaginary watch. The nerve! Fan reaction doesn’t matter. Correa has proved this year that he can enter hostile environments and make it work. The watch and the homer thing? Maybe we’ve got that backward? What’s more important: That he stepped up in a big moment? Or that he celebrated the big moment?

More important, there does seem to be some word leaking out that Correa, after working under Jose Altuve for his entire career, is more than ready to take ownership of a championship big league clubhouse.

I think he would be a very nice pick up.
Looking at his mlb stats I would assume a
.275-.285avg .335-.350 OBP with 15-20 HR and very good defense. Probably a 3-4 WAR player.
Could be worth a shot
I could be totally wrong and he could be a .225 hitter with 12 HR and avg defense or a .300 hitter with 30 HRS
I’m no scout lol

It would be encouraging to get an early signing in Free Agency and I do agree it does send a message that helps in recruiting

Don't have to compete with the market if you are establishing the market

What about Will the Thrill
He hasn't been here on a regular basis in quite some time. He does stop in every now and then. I always enjoyed his comments and his experiences in knowing some of the players.

What was that guy's name who used to act like he had an inside source in the front office. He has been gone for a few years now.

Some of the guys I miss and some I don't. Lol

I usually look at their stats in Japan and compare them to others' stats who came over. There is usually a drop off so I assume the current guys will experience the same level of drop off. That is why I was so excited about Yu and why I felt really good about Ohtani. The same thing has me thinking Seiya Suzuki will be a star over here.

I really miss him. He just suddenly stopped posting for no apparent reason. I have often wondered if maybe he passed away.

Does anyone miss Lainey? Lol
