I really miss him. He just suddenly stopped posting for no apparent reason. I have often wondered if maybe he passed away.

Does anyone miss Lainey? Lol
Yes. Romeo ran her off.

Yeah, I missed those fireworks. That took place during my one year banishment. When I came back in the middle of the 2014 season she was gone.

Yeah, he was one of those guys who left when the team stopped being great. He was one of those who didn't like anything negative being said about the team.

I usually look at their stats in Japan and compare them to others' stats who came over. There is usually a drop off so I assume the current guys will experience the same level of drop off. That is why I was so excited about Yu and why I felt really good about Ohtani. The same thing has me thinking Seiya Suzuki will be a star over here.
we've already got a mistake we made on from Japan on the team, do we want to gamble on another?

We have made more here than we have in Japan. Why not look at the idea?

Yeah, Arihara's numbers in Japan never inspired me.

i have and he may be a good pickup or not. first i would look at who we already have in the system or we could pick up in the draft. and when we have players ready to step in from our system what do we do? trade them or him?

Good question. I was only making the point that b/c he was from Japan is not a reason to not consider him.

and him being from Japan isn't a reason to not consider him but position players from Japan have not had a great track record of bringing their NPB production to the MLB. i'm just saying that we should look at what we've got already in our system or in the draft.

It would be encouraging to get an early signing in Free Agency and I do agree it does send a message that helps in recruiting
and just like with the MLB Free Agent class there will be major competition for him. not only are the Rangers are tied to him but also KC, TB, Philadelphia, Seattle, Toronto and the Cubs. the one team that might be the toughest competitor in the bidding might be Seattle

and this would have to be considered also:

The posting process for Suzuki wouldn’t begin until after the conclusion of this year’s NPB season. Posting windows last for 30 days, and the fact that negotiations with Suzuki would coincide with ongoing collective bargaining negotiations between MLB and the MLB Players Association could complicate matters. If the Carp decide against posting Suzuki, or if he is posted and does not agree to a deal with a Major League team, Suzuki would return to the Carp for his age-27 campaign next year. He’s still two years from unrestricted free agency, so if he doesn’t come to MLB via the posting system this winter, it’s possible yet that the Carp could post him a second time next winter.

Here is a link to a study that looked into how Japanese hitters fare over here compared to Japan.

On average, these Japanese hitters have now hit 50.8% as many homeruns in the U.S. as they hit in Japan in the same number of at-bats (last year, it was 49.4%). The mean was also up to 51.5%, compared to 50.9% last year.

In other words, the numbers still suggest it is roughly twice as hard to hit homeruns in MLB as it is in NPB.

The other numbers changed even less. On average, these nine hitters hit 20 points lower in the U.S. than in Japan, on-base percentages dropped 25 to 30 points, slugging percentages dropped about 90 points and OPS numbers dropped roughly 120 points.

.301/.405/.557/.962

According to the study above, these are the numbers to expect from Suzuki if he comes to MLB.
