I'm 90%+ convinced there will be missed games this season. Players have no reason to make anything other than reciprocal small concessions, and the only things being "negotiated" on are the relatively minor issues at this point. Sure seems like the owners were banking on the players caving, and the players are calling the bluff.

i'm thinking that MLB will need a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks to complete all off-season matters left and probably another 3 to 4 weeks to hold some semblance of ST. i don't see how we aren't already going to lose 20-30 games

Going by their self-imposed Feb 28 deadline to start the season on time, that's 4.5 weeks for off-season matters and ST. That's what I'm using as a guesstimator if/when they don't get a deal done on time.

okay but i think we're looking at a minimum of 6 weeks

If Gallo has a .370+ OBP, 35+HRs and stellar defense he will deserve a decent payday. That’s a great player to have.
I’m talking about the players with a .330 or less OBP and 25 or less HR power and subpar defense. Those guys aren’t getting paid (highly) anymore and probably for the better.

No disrespect to the Good Lord here. Just think if we could fix Gallo swing and miss rate. He would truly be elite….. right @DTLUNA

and therein lies the problem. neither side feels that they should make any moves, so we sit and wait.

that's where things are now. players have already made reasonable offers and have been met with resistance every step of the way. at this point they would just be negotiating against themselves, and they're absolutely correct to not do that.
