I like it

Mine would be

C-Melendez- trade
1B-Lowe
2B-Ibanez
3B-Jung
SS-Story
LF-Schwarber/JD Davis
CF-Garcia
RF-Suzuki
DH-JD Davis/ Schwarber

1.Stroman/Gausman/Ray
2.Matz/Desclafani
3.Dunning
4.Hearn
5.Alexy
not crazy about either. one has players that don't fit the plan and one overloads the team with too many FA's and gives away too much of our prospects. both would damage our system

If we sign Correa for 10 years at $30-32 million AAV, should the front office be blamed for significantly harming the team's chances at being competitive in the future(2 to 6 years)?
i would say yes. it would result in the same thing that happened when we signed AROD.

money wasn't an issue then and it isn't an issue now. what I mean is, if they don't spend it's because they don't want to. a specific contract isn't to blame.

I need more context here
Will you see signing him as a major mistake at that price? Enough, so that it makes you concerned it will affect our ability to build a championship?

To me, it does not and that is why it wouldn't bother me to sign him. A lot of others seem to disagree. I am wondering if they think it is wrong because it will be detrimental to our chances of winning, or is it simply a matter of not wanting him to make that much money?

don't agree. the ownership then talked about signing multiple FA's too and then what did we see? they signed ARod for the biggest contract ever and then they stopped. they panicked and we suffered for a few years and then he wanted gone.

rather se us win the bidding war for Suzuki and then sign Story and Semien for SS and 2B respectively. maybe trade a package for Ketel Marte. then add a Free Agent Starting Pitcher like Kershaw or Stroman etc and go with our kids and prospects

for me it's a combo of the 2 because it could affect other moves in FA and he's an ass let the Tigers have him

Personally speaking, I'm not a fan of these giant contracts full stop. But that is the nature of the beast now.

Signing Correa to 10/330 or some such should not prevent the Rangers from building a championship team.

They didn't stop because they didn't have the money. They stopped because they didn't want to spend the money.

@saddles if I had the choice of Corea alone or Story and Semien, I take the latter. Still want the the other FAs obviously. Not too keen on Marte trade at this point. Open to Garcia in CF for a year but he still needs to prove himself offensively IMO
In a years time we might trade a 2B prospect for another ups and comer.
Probably need a bridge pitcher. like Nic M and ok with Kershaw

Re Corea. Think he could easily be a cancer in the clubhouse and I am a fan and he is the not the one I want to cheer for….. personal choice

They didn't stop because they didn't have the money. They stopped because they didn't want to spend the money.
Jumping in. Perhaps true in the past but they did go bankrupt and even Yanks have a budget

We have to wisely allocate resources and I can easily be biased but I don’t prefer Correa but his signing can easily limit the remaining monies available

By the way, I think Correa is overrated by a lot of baseball fans. His contract has a decent chance of being an albatross. But these giant contracts aren't detrimental to teams. They are making billions.

Sure, there is a finite financial resource, and it should be spent wisely. But it also should be spent.

So, you would hold it against the front office if they do sign him?

To me it would be ridiculous to sign both Story and Semien. I would hold that against the front office. It would really make the Gallo trade look bad if they traded for 3 MIF and then went out and acquired 2 MIF in free agency. Not to mention Foscue and Acuna.

Reading about Correa, he certainly doesn't seem like a clubhouse cancer.
