No More "Bullpen Failure"
Yes, your ranges are logical. Someone may not agree with them, but they are consistent. Grant's, not so much.to me they are.
9-10: Seager/Correa

Would you be willing to keep IKF here when he hits free agency by paying him what someone else would pay him to start? If not, I think he leaves in 2 years anyway. Most likely, even if the money is the same he would probably prefer starting somewhere else.I would need to see a full year of Hernandez before supplanting IKF with him.
we aren't talking about Hernandez being a full-time player but as a utility player and why exile IKF to the bench when we can probably get 1 or 2 prospects for himI would need to see a full year of Hernandez before supplanting IKF with him.

Yeah, we definitely have some time, but I would think we can get more for him with two full years left, than we could with less time remaining until he hits free agency. I wouldn't mind Solak and Ibanez splitting time at 2B with Dorrow ready to come up at some point in 2022, if not right out of ST, to be the UIF. I think the best answer, Davis Wendzel, won't be ready for another year at the earliest.IKF will be a FA after the 2023 season from what I can tell. In my mind there's a 100% chance he gets traded. There are two offseasons (including this one) and two trade deadlines between now and then. Not sure which one of those he is dealt at, but in my opinion he will definitely be (or at least should be) dealt away.
Regarding Hernandez, and Ibanez too: Let's assume the Rangers sign a SS. IKF goes to 2B in 2022. Whoever the UIF is at that point, I want to see them for the whole season to get a better idea of what we have at UIF. Maybe the UIF performs well enough we are OK with trading IKF at the deadline in 2022 and then ride out the rest of the year with the UIF as the new starting 2B for 2022.
I guess my point is: yes I am assuming the Rangers will trade IKF at some point, but we've got some time before that needs to happen, so lets find out what we have at UIF (short term before the prospects arrive) before doing it.
IKF is probably as good as any UIF as we can find on defense. Offense is another question. To me it all comes down to how he can be used to best benefit the team. We do have a time frame to consider. No use to hurry unless a deal pops up that can't be refused.IKF will be a FA after the 2023 season from what I can tell. In my mind there's a 100% chance he gets traded. we have players that have not lived up to expectations that we need to move on from. IKF isn't one of them but does he have a space in the future of this team? i think he needs to be moved now not later while he has value especially if we do sign FA infielders like we are being rumored to. if we could trade him with other players to get a need like in the outfield then we should do it and not waitIKF is probably as good as any UIF as we can find on defense. I want to add winning pieces to our team but facts are facts we are still in the middle of a rebuild. We have to add to our roster young guys when ready regardless of a 100 million to be spent
So the question becomes what are our current winning pieces?
Other than the bullpen, I think all of our winning pieces are in the minors or will come via free agency or trade. Most are not too far way though. By this time next year we may feel very confident in three young starting pitchers for the Opening Day 2023 roster. Smith, Foscue and Huff may be in that same category with an outside chance of Duran and Harris being right there with them. That is on top of Jung and probably 3 FA who will be added before 2022 starts.I want to add winning pieces to our team but facts are facts we are still in the middle of a rebuild. Yes, I forgot to add Garcia.Maybe Garcia, Hearn, Dunning. A few long shots, and the rest are a big nope.
