With Robbie Ray winning the Cy Young, that makes five Cy Young winners who were once on the 2014 Detroit Tigers.

And Anibal Sanchez won the ERA title

We understand, I understand, that time is becoming an issue," Manfred said. "That's a challenge. We've had challenges with respect to making labor agreements before, and we got a pretty good track record of overcoming those challenges. I can tell you from the clubs' perspective, we're committed to continuing to offer proposals and suggestions in an effort to get to an agreement before December 1."

MLB's 26-year streak of labor peace -- which came on the heels of the '94 strike that resulted in a canceled World Series -- is in jeopardy after a rocky five-year period during which players chafed at the average salary in the sport dropping as pre-COVID-19 revenues spiked. The union has pursued a wide swath of changes, from lifting the competitive-balance tax threshold to paying younger players more to disincentivizing losing by penalizing teams that currently benefit from doing so with high draft picks. The league, which is pursuing expanded playoffs and other on-field changes, offered a core economics proposal in August that was roundly dismissed by the union as dissatisfactory.

Yes CBA is looming. Not seeing a salary floor without a salary cap and that is not happening
The revenue sharing is tricky what allows teams to lose and make a profit.

The TV contracts and blackouts are disenfranchising a portion of their fan base
It uses to be the working man sporting event but the costs make it tougher to have a enjoyable for a modest family of 4. Pace of play, DH, expanded playoffs, tanking issues, the compensatory pick etc.

We are almost to Thanksgiving and then the deadline. The clock is ticking.
If I were an owner I might want to see after the smoke clears before I issue a big check

I don’t think so
Franco is only 20 years old
By this time next year Jung will be almost 25 years old.
Maybe after year 2 offer him a buyout of his arbitration years and tack on 3 additional years to take him to his age 32 season.

Well
I would expect how and when a player gets to free agency will be addressed and changed in the new CBA

Where will Robbie Ray land in free agency? Breaking down best fits for 2021 AL Cy Young winner

Don't sleep on: Rangers

"Of course, convincing the reigning Cy Young winner to join a 102-loss club won't be easy, so the Rangers may have to overpay to get Ray to come to Texas. You know what though? It's just money, and the Rangers have plenty of it. Signing Ray would be akin to the Nationals signing Jayson Werth. At some point you have to invest in the roster and show you're a destination team."

24 hours until certain prospects must be added to the roster or risk being taken in the Rule 5 draft.

Think we will see more trades start to go down once the rule 5 draft is over?

They won't have that until after the lockout ends. Maybe February.

Would y’all rather sign Schwarber or Suzuki?
Schwarber is only 28, doesn’t cost a draft pick and has proven he can be a .850-.900 OPS hitter with 30 HR power. Defense is limited. Would probably cost around $80/5.
Suzuki is no sure thing but could be better once you count the defense. But he’s never even faced mlb pitching. Would probably cost around $60/5 but also the team would have to pay fees to the Carp basically equaling the cost of Schwarber.

I would say Shwarber just because it’s a safer bet.
