No clause in his contract, but by the labor agreement he has full veto rights because he has 10 years of service and 5 with the same team. That why I was so adamant in July of 2018 that we should trade him then.

Now, if we tell him he will not have a starting position I am sure he would agree to be traded.

They won't bench a lead off hitter with a.265 avg and OBP.371 team high.

i know his first week with the Braves was awful, but he’s still a pretty good pitcher.

He had a good stretch after that and was a significant piece. I bet they would like to replace Jackson. Also think Martin is a FA if I remember correctly

If they would want to trade him they would be wanting another lead off guy anyway. So, why not tell him and give him incentive to agree to a trade.

Morosi is linking the Cubs and Rangers as potential trade partners for Kris Bryant. don't see the Rangers having the pieces to even talk without having to add Willie Calhoun and/or Danny Santana and I can't see either being part of any talk.

If we held out Winn would it still get it done? Or maybe put a lesser prospect instead of Winn?

Yes. No expert but seems like a deal for a guy who has been injured a bit lately with 2 years left until FA would get a lessor starter with upside and a prominent MILB prospect in upper level and high promise lower level prospect. Maybe even Jung if went had an extension preagreed

We have too many holes to make a deal like this and would create more giving away our two best pitchers for a next year expiring contract. Better to get a 2 year rental FA and keep the powder dry.

even if he doesn’t sign here, it will still be a big plus as long as he goes to any other team but the Astros.

If he is not with us he needs to be out of the AL West and preferably out of the AL.
