This team creates a lot of problems when extending players. All we need is another player with the Odor effect.
If it is a good contract then you can move it. Just like the initial Minor and Lynn contracts are but I get that until we establish and define our window it makes more sense to be fluid

Re signing Rendon while having Jung.
I have thought that maybe his future may be at 1B if 3B does not work out

TR mentioned Todd Frazier as a possible 3B signing for the Rangers. That is right there in the Asdrubal Cabrera category. I wish these writers would quit providing excuses for the Rangers ahead of time.

Either sign Rendon long term, sign Moustakas very short term, or punt on the decision and go internally. Don't give a pretense of doing something. No Donaldson, no Frazier.

We have had very little success signing guys to a good contract extension.

Yeah, he is far from a sure thing. Now if he puts up a great year next year then I could see holding that spot for him. For now, if a Rendon is available you go after him, and make contingency plans for Jung. If Teixeira can be moved to a new position within our system, then Jung can be too.
That is a thought.

Santana is a good fit in CF and allows DDJ's dismissal. Since we can not trade Choo, trade Mazara and get rid of the OF glut. That would have Willie LF Santana CF and Gallo RF. Choo OF/DH. Let Pence go. Glut gone.

To me it doesn't make sense to trade Mazara just to get rid of a lefty bat when Choo is leaving in a year. Just launch Choo to the moon a year early.

Another way for sure but paying that much to keep a guy who does not hit well doesn't make sense either.

Just noticed that he gets 11.5 mil next year with a 2 mil buyout and 12.5 mil in 2021 with a 1 mil buyout. That is upper echelon territory.
well he is an upper echelon offensive and defensive CF'er and having him between Calhoun and Gallo would be a major positive outfield in my view

I don't believe that we can't trade Choo. I believe that we would have to eat at least half of the 21M he is owed for 2020 and take back low level prospects but there are teams that could use his LH bat

Does Choo have a no trade clause?

FWIW, here's where my rooting interest lies:

AL: Rays, Twins, Yankees, Asstros.
NL: Braves, Nats, Dodgers, Shitbirds.

Would like to see the Rays make it to the series, but a lot would have to break their way. Pulling for the Braves to win it all.

1) id like to see the dodgers win one. It’s a very strong organization with a long history of success, they just haven’t been able to win the big one.

2) twins, Braves, nats, are second tier. I don’t really care. I’m kind of indifferent to these teams.

3) Yankees - the main reason I don’t like the Yankees is their stupid fans. Lots of bandwagon fans who have never even been to New York and some haven’t even been to a Yankee game home or away.

4) Astros - they hate us. Houston fans have an irrational hatred towards the rangers and cowboys for some reason. I don’t really get it. These people suck. I don’t want to see them get another championship.

I’m hoping the ALCS is yankees vs. Astros and the NLCS is dodgers vs. Braves. Those are what most people would agree are the most interesting matchups.

I’d like to see a dodgers vs Yankees world series with the dodgers winning it in 6.

he has a limited 10-team trade clause
That makes it hard to trade him and the reason we might trade Maz who doesn't hit well plus saving paying Choo 's contract just to keep Maz. I don't want to see Maz go but not many options left.

No clause in his contract, but by the labor agreement he has full veto rights because he has 10 years of service and 5 with the same team. That why I was so adamant in July of 2018 that we should trade him then.

Now, if we tell him he will not have a starting position I am sure he would agree to be traded.

I would also have no problem releasing Choo should he not agree to be traded. It is time to move on, one way or another.

Braves 3 Cards 2 bottom of 8th. Chris Martin got hurt and they brought in Luke Jackson who gave up a HR and now 2 singles. Bringing the closer in with 2 outs

Can't argue with that
