I fear that they’re going to give Guzman the same freedom and trust that they give odor.

Guzman needs a platoon or “ training wheels” of some kind. I just don’t trust him to hit well enough to justify playing him everyday.
It is not apples to apples. Guzman was paid $569,000 last year. We need to give him this year unless we have a very decent alternative as it is a low cost risk. I mean how bad of a stinking defense to you want to put out on the field?

of the 2 I would rather have Seager

I too would rather have Seager.. just playing devil’s advocate.
What would that trade look like?
He does offer way better defense..
And his splits really aren’t that different from each other..

I wouldn’t mind that
It would still leave us with Burke, Allard and Palumbo
And of course Winn and Crouse

might have to include at least one of them to make the deal happen

Sounds like Arenado trade may be a puff of smoke

Palumbos k/9 is pretty damn solid
He is a battler who has multiple pitches. I think we will regret it if we move him

at this point

give me castellanos, Frazier, and a reliever who can make the roster. Then let’s call it a day. At least Frazier hits with some pop and he can field his position.

I just hate Todd Frazier, mostly because he sucks

He does not look like much an upgrade but I don't want to give up much for Seager and he is LHB. Agree with Crawler on Castellanos. Love Mancini but Os will want too much young talent for him.

Ozuna Castellanos and Josh D still on the board. Slow pace now.
Have to think we get 2 more bats

a 3B who can be a 2-3 war player and be average to above average is better than what we had last year.. I wouldn’t say he sucks.. he’s not plan A (Rendon) or plan B (Donaldson) or Plan C (Arrenado) but he is better than what we rolled out there last year and better than our internal candidates..
I wouldn’t be upset if he was our starting 3B next year..
Wouldn’t be thrilled either..
But he would be decent.. I guess lol

Here's to praying for more 2019 Frazier and less 2018 Frazier

I still don't like Todd Frazier and still think he sucks

I agree with you completely I think Frazier sucks too.

he’s pretty much the last decent option available. I don’t want to see another year of some random guy ( Cabrera, IKF, or solak) playing out of position at 3rd base. I mainly want Frazier because he can field his position and hopefully he can hit some home runs too while he’s at it.

im not buying into the arenado pipe dream. I don’t think colorado will trade him to us.

When we needed pitching would you have been happy to get those guys?

Starting Nine
Catcher: Robinson Chirinos
First Base: Ronald Guzman
Second Base: Rougned Odor
Third Base: Nick Solak
Shortstop: Elvis Andrus
Left Field: Willie Calhoun
Center Field: Danny Santana
Right Field: Joey Gallo
Designated Hitter: Shin-Soo Choo

Bench
Catcher: Jeff Mathis or Jose Trevino
Utility: Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Outfield: Adolis Garcia
Outfield: Scott Heineman

One of the stories to follow closely in spring training will be who makes the team as the secondary catcher – Jeff Mathis or Jose Trevino? Mathis is owed $3 million and was Mike Minor's personal catcher in 2019, but Trevino offers more offensively and showed promise behind the dish as well last season.

When the Rangers bring in a third baseman, it will have a domino effect, as we talked about with Nick Solak. It will likely also kick either Adolis Garcia or Scott Heineman off the active roster. It's very unlikely the Rangers would carry six outfielders on the active roster.

Starting Rotation
Mike Minor
Lance Lynn
Corey Kluber
Kyle Gibson
Jordan Lyles

This is the easiest group to project. Management has done a marvelous job upgrading the rotation by adding Kluber, Gibson, and Lyles. The biggest question is who will start Opening Day in Seattle.

Bullpen
Jose Leclerc
Rafael Montero
Jesse Chavez
Brett Martin
Nick Goody
Joely Rodriguez
Jeffrey Springs
Demarcus Evans

The bullpen is the hardest group to project. Jose Leclerc will get every opportunity to be the closer again. Montero, Chavez, Martin, Goody, and Rodriguez are pretty much locks, unless things go very wrong in Surprise.

When he opts out in 21 months we can get him then.
