I agree to a degree with Scottsman that we need to keep trying to put our best foot forward regardless of missed opportunities. That doesn't mean we just go crazy and throw caution to the wind. But we all can see that we are not in a rebuild and we need to improve this team when possible. And we all also know it will not all happen in one season. There are some things that we have done that I am optimistic about and I try and focus on those things. We all know what pissed us off about Rendon but it's done. And in the field we have a lot of defensive holes. Other than Guzman, Gallo, Andrus, and yes even Odor at times who ranked 12th in MLB defensively this past year which is not great but was 4th in 2018 we have a really weak defense overall.
not advocating crazy just completing what we've started with Kluber, Gibson, Lyles and Chirinos

Can anyone explain why it is taking so long to resolve the service time grievance with Kris Bryant? Is this just baseball being it's idiotic self or is there a really good reason that they just can't put a stake in the ground and make a decision?

I wasn't implicating you on the crazy part. That was just me making a statement in general.

A name that hasn't been mentioned often is Seager, he essentially has a much cheaper/shorter deal than Aredando, and won't cost nearly as much

If the Rangers pay most of the contract it won't cost much in terms of prospects, based on what I read

It is really hard to know what we are disagreeing about until we get a glimpse of what is being asked for for which player. I may be disagreeing about whether we should give up players A, B, and C for player X. Someone else may have in mind that we are giving up players B, F, and H for player X. In reality it may cost A, B, C, D, and E and maybe almost everyone would disagree about that.

Myself, I wouldn't give up anything for 2 years of a player unless it is for a very cheap price. On the other hand, if we are getting Arenado for several years I would give up a lot, just not certain guys.

I also would be okay with including a big league starting pitcher if that makes the deal work.

He'd bring solid offense and defense to the table and just has 3 years left ($19 million in 2020, $18 million in 2021 and $15 million in 2023), he's only had one season where he didn't meet those value numbers and that was last year and he still had value as an above average defender

I did see that but they are still determining that he was called up April 17, 2015 which cost him a year of service. If called up April 16 or before he gets that year. It makes a difference if a team wanted to trade for him knowing when he would be a FA.

I actually think that is a good idea.

Before we get too sold on Seager, it seems like there is an opt out clause granted if traded. I might look at that later. Work break

I could be wrong but I think that is in 2022.

2022 would become a player option if traded instead of a team option.
It’s at $15 million..
Which Seager would probably exercise unless he just absolutely crushes the ball in 2021 and thinks he can get more than $15 mil or more years around that annual average

To me his offensive stats in the past and age probably would not allow that to happen.

We would save a lot of headache and grief just by having him in our lineup instead of the other teams.
