Texas Rangers 2019-2020 Offseason Thread

I have a feeling, which is probably wrong, that the Rangers will sign one of Castellanos/Ozuna/Pillar and Todd Frazier.
That will allow roster flexibility.
Todd Frazier can play 3B or 1B.
Calhoun and potentially Guzman would be expendable..
They could trade Calhoun, Burke, Cole Winn, and another guy depending on who, for someone like Mancini or Arrenado.
Frazier could play the opposite.

If I could pick, I would choose to sign Pillar and Frazier...move D Santana to Lf. Trade Calhoun, Burke, Winn and Taveras for Arrenado and a little salary relief. Let Frazier start every game vs lefties and also games against RHP who don’t have a heavy split dominating righty batters. I would let Guzman play against the rest of the righties and come in late in games as a defensive replacement.

from a financial stand point Mancini and would probably be the best bet though.

That’s not a bad lineup and the additions I believe would be affordable.
Mancini- $5.5 mil
Ozuna/Castellanos-$15 mil
Frazier-$5 mil

That would put the payroll right around $183-185 million.

It would be the highest payroll the Rangers have ever had.. but they have been somewhat close to that 3-4 years ago and inflation has gone up quite a bit.. they’re also opening a brand new stadium and want to kick it off with excitement so it’s not too far fetched.
Choo, Minor, Chavez, Mathis- $37 mill will fall off after next year too. As well as $9 mill they have to pay P. fielder this year.

There was some early talk on Mancini but he would be a good pick up. Sounds like Castellanos is most likely but doubt if we get both. Calhoun is gonna play LF and really doubt he is traded

I believe ARod is done. I am not sure about Fielder because of the insurance, but his contract was supposed to expire when Choo's does.

I believe ARod is done. I am not sure about Fielder because of the insurance, but his contract was supposed to expire when Choo's does.

When he was traded to Texas Detroit was paying 6M yr, and I think Texas is still paying 9M and insurance I would assume the rest.

I’m not sure I’d spend my money this year as Texas, although next years market isn’t appearing all that great unless you’re saving pennies for Betts

if we don't get Arenado then I agree except we're going to need someone who can step in if he can't deal with it and we have the same issue at 1B with Guzman. so Frazier makes some sense as he can cover both positions
