the o/line isnt false
Poorly written puff piece I feel.

The article says it might be difficult to beat the eagles and take the division.

They are super bowl contenders and the best team in the NFC. It will be difficult for the commanders, giants or cowboys to dethrone the eagles. There is no might about it. It can be done, but would be more of a miracle than "might" be difficult.

If the OG's and Gates hold up we should be fine. Injuries to the interior we will be in trouble, just like last year.
And we passed on opportunities to get depth

Yes, but look what they did in the secondary. Could be a special group. It looks like Paul, Stromberg, and Larsen will be the top backups in the interior. Ive been hearing some buzz from Mason Brooks.

The secondary was not the problem last year. We were 4th in passing yards per game and 4th in total passing yards allowed in 2022.

Does that indicate that the secondary was a problem? We don't need "special groups". We need the offense to do its job and support the defense for once. Yes, upgrades are always welcome, but the offensive line was much more a problem last year than the secondary. Rivera has proven he wants to collect talent instead of actually building units. We had a chance to solidify a glowing weakness and Rivera picked defense....like I said he would.

Dean went on and on last year about how the OLine sabotaged Wentz's play last year and now he is claiming it will be "fine" due to a few free-agent pickups (one major and one minor)? Dean's lack of seeing the big picture is astonishing to me. He is more interested in obtaining support for Rivera and convincing everyone we are contenders than having open and realistic discussions.

Forbes and Martin are wasted draft picks?
either one of them by themselves wouldnt be but both together seems like overkill on a secondary that was already very good

BSJ has been injury prone. I can see why they went CB at 16. Martin will take McCains snaps who had a lot last year. Butler will be the primary backup for Forrest and Curl.

overkill dean , should have taken the o/lineman instead . how JDR uses them is of no consequence at all we were 4th without them anyway

Because Dean said so and he has anointed Martin as McCain's replacement without Martin having even taken a snap.
Expect another hill that Dean will die on.

We all want Martin to be successful but it is way too early to start picking winners and losers from the draft class until they hit the field.

If you remember they had Forbes ranked over Jones the olineman and were willing to give up a 4th to go get Forbes. I dont think it's over kill. They wanted to upgrade the secondary and I think they did that. They must have viewed McCain as a huge loss in the secondary. Did you really want Richard Wildgoose out there on 3rd and 8?

I see your point about the Oline but they are high on Charles/Paul and brought in Gates at center. Still drafted two olineman. It's still a huge question if the interior oline will perform this year. Will Charles/Paul, Gates, and Cosmi be better than last year's group of Norwell, larsen, and Martin. Let's hope so.

and if howell plays well.

Of course. I just think with this defense we don't have to put a huge load on Howells shoulders. He has the weapons to be successful, the question is will the oline hold up and can Howell process the new offense efficiently and not make bone head plays.
