Cuz Alabama is so much more scenic than Hawaii?

There's a ton of natural beauty in Alabama. Me, personally, I'm not a beach goer, and I don't like the idea of being stuck on an island. If I have the choice, I'd rather live in Alabama than Hawaii any day. But as it stands now, north GA is where I was born, and hopefully where I die.

LOL, In terms of tourist visits, Hawaii is 10th, Alabama is 14th. No one is disputing that Hawaii is a great place to visit. I have been to all the main islands except Molokai and Kahoolawe. I'm not from Alabama, and I don't have any family there, but if I had to choose between living in Alabama or Hawaii, Alabama wins every time. I've been to a dozen Caribbean islands as well, also great places to visit, but if I'm choosing some place to live, NO.

But, that wasn't even the argument I was making. I will say it again, real slow so you and blowjob queen can process.

IF you have money, Hawaii is awesome, if you are poor or lower middle class, your Hawaii experience is going to look similar to any Southern state. The bbq place at the beach is still going to cook the same fucking Smithfield pig in the same barbecue with a bbq sauce that isn't going to taste any different than the bbq stand at the beach in Alabama. Sub out the spam musubi and poi for hushpuppies and grits and you wouldn't know the difference...except your beer was way cheaper in Alabama.
True I spent an all expense paid week at The Princeville Resort on Kauai and was not impressed enough to want to go back. I can understand how quickly the problem of island fever can set in. More diversity in Alabama and better overall scenery. But Waimea Canyon was impressive.

I'm not a beach person either but it's freakin awesome to be 10 minutes from your boat that is in a marina on the intercoastal. The "Salt Life" can grab you in a hurry.

Lol. People with real options dont stay or move to Alabama. I'm not saying there aren't any nice places there. I'm saying theres a reason Hawaii is expensive and its not only because it's far from the mainland.
No one makes really good money and says oh man now I'm gonna move to Alabama. Lol. I'm sorry but they don't. Just like they don't say oh man I can afford any car now I'm buying a Nissan.
Damn it is amazing how ignorant some people are. I can live anywhere I want and I live in Alabama. To show you how the last trip I made to your area was an all expense paid trip where I stayed at the Ritz Dana Point in a suite on the executive floor. Been to Hawaii nice place to visit once but no way am I ever wanting to live there.

Breaking news when you have the 4th largest research park in the world a LOT of people want to live in Alabama.

Speaking of cars the one I chose to drive to work today was my Porsche. Haven't driven in a while and it was it's turn. Tomorrow I think I will get out the steel bumper-ed C3. Thursday I am limbering up one of the Harleys taking a trip up the Natchez Trace. Will get on in Cherokee. Cherokee is where the Trail of Tears comes to each year. Oh and since restaurants are open here Saturday I have reservations at last year Beard's Award winner for the best restaurant in America. Desert will be made by the best pastry chef in America. Sunday I will drive about 10 minutes to the lake house, break out the boat and enjoy one of the prettiest deep water lakes in the US. Life is good here.

Ah, come on man. With scenic beauty like this, everyone knows West Texas is the place to live.

yeah, the "people only live in Alabama b/c they have to" take is sizzling hot and quite ignorant

I’ll take your word for it. I prefer rivers and creeks though.

Yes I get it . If you're poor you'd have to live in Alabama. If you had options you'd live in Hawaii. Most sane people would. It's really not that difficult but you seem to try to muddy it up. Many people eat at Mc Donalds . That doesn't make it good food.

LOL, yeah, that why I left Rolling Hills, CA for Tampa, FL, so poor,...poor poor me. I would live in Alabama in a heartbeat if I didn't have kids in Florida. I would never live in Hawaii. Just like I would never live in St. Kitts, or St. Bart's or Aruba or any of the amazing islands (to visit) in the Caribbean. Most sane people wouldn't. I would also choose Alabama over Southern California any day of the week and I lived in what I would say is the nicest area of Los Angeles county.

I also like McDonald's AND Ruth Chris, like a sane person, although I only do Macca's for breakfast, steak, egg and cheese bagel...can't get that in Cali, yet another reason to leave that shithole. Although truthfully of the chain steakhouses, Morton's is way better than Ruth Chris..and I'm more of a Wendy's guy.

Everything I've heard about Hawaii is that is a great place to visit but you don't want to live there. Evidently the politics, taxes, cost of living and bureaucracy make it a pain in the ass to live there.

LOL. I'm sure there are some people who live in Barstow that have money. That doesn't make it a place where people with options move to. Seriously that's your reasoning? lol. You just described less wealth and people than you'd find at a coffee shop in the places I listed below between 7am and 8 am on a Saturday morning. Some people stay where they are comfortable , what they are used to. But wake me when you hear people who sold a company, become independently wealthy start saying Miami nah, Hawaii nah, Aspen nah, Manhattan beach nah, Montecito nah, La Jolla nah. It's Alabama where I'm gonna go. I'm gonna sleep pretty good I'm positive.

Man, if I didn't think Jarheads were a "special" breed before, I do now.

Shit, I left California because I could basically pay someone a living wage on the taxes I was paying the state, California is better than Hawaii in that regard. It's a beautiful place, I particularly like the big island, but no thanks on living there. I like Florida well enough, but I can see myself in North Alabama before too long, maybe North Georgia.

All true but what really made me wonder was after 8 day island fever was starting to sink in. Kauai is 552 square miles compared to for reference Jefferson County Alabama at 1,124 so you are confined to a small land area surrounded by water. Ain't no road trips going on.

That's how I feel about cruises. Never been on one, not planning on going. I like to go somewhere and wing it. I really like to do the airbnb or VRBO thing, rent a house, hit the local markets, do what I want, go where the mood takes me. I always go someplace with a rough idea of where I want to go and see, but I am definitely not one of those that has an itinerary that says, it's Tuesday, today we go to the Coliseum.

Is that Smith Lake? My brother used to have a place there, and it is gorgeous. I live on Wilson, and we have some nice bluffs up here as well.

Yes it is. I was in Florence yesterday. Had to drop two T-Tops off at Astro tops.

Damn I miss Dale's.
