So with yet another pathetic first half by the Patriots in the Browns game I really have to wonder why this team is a two half team?

I mean it's not like they suddenly get better players in the 2nd half. They are the same players... Same play calls... Yet the can't do a freaking thing in the first half.... WHY?

Eventually this "luck" has to run out... No?

Not to mention Tom Brady has looked completely lost out there in the first half. Granted it seems like he hasn't been getting the same amount of protection he is used to.

All games have plays that set the momentum. In yesterday's game, I think the early whistle on the Cleveland fumble, a couple of overthrown passes by Brady and some crucial drops by the receivers, set the stage for what was to come.

The moment to take control was lost and it took the Pats a long time to get the offense rolling again. The Browns have a strong D that is often overlooked. We had some luck again, a recurring theme this season, but hey luck is being at the right place at the right time and making the right plays.

Yes the Browns have a very good "underrated" defense and it showed on Sunday. Again, that was a tramp game anyway you look at it.

It just don't get how every week its pretty much the same thing. Crappy start and we think oh boy here we go again only to be YES they won!!!

Someone tallied up the stats for 1st half scoring vs 2nd half scoring for the NFL overall since 2001...the results by quarter:

1st: Home team 4.7 -- Visitor 3.8
2nd: Home team 7 -- Visitor 6.2
3rd: Home team 4.6 -- Visitor 4.3
4th: Home Team 6.2 -- Visitor 5.8

Overall, all teams score more in the 2nd and 4th quarters. There could be a myraid of reasons such as teams using their two minute offense, playing with more desperation, defensive fatigue, using their timeouts to scheme specific plays etc. As far as the Pats go...it's Brady's fire and desire to win coming to a head in the second half.

IMO.

Don't forget they have halftime to discuss as a team what the opposition is doing, and what they need to do to resolve those issues through photos or spliced tapes. Not to mention, the coach usually doesn't come out screaming at players before the game, it is all inspirational. At halftime, if you have sucked, the coach is all up in your grill demanding you play for your money you are making, to stop being such an idiot, make your reads, don't lose your tackles, wrap up, be a man.

I think halftime is very important for the good teams, because it refocuses them. They know what it takes to win, but they need a kick in the ass to realize that they only have 30 minutes to fix their shit.

According to those stats, both teams score the most points in the 2nd quarter.

Overall both teams score more in the 2nd half, but you are right. Based on the stats above, it appears they just need a chance to get their engines going. They start a half off slower and build up momentum. Just need to get into the flow of the game I suppose.
