Really impressed with Banton. I mean our point gaurd is as tall as our starting 5s were under Miles.

If Mayen can continue to knock down those threes this offense can be really good this year. We got 5 wing type guys who love to get to the rim when the other big man is out defending the perimeter.

Defensively, we didn't give up anything easy. Made them shoot over us and dribble through us.

Competition gets significantly better tomorrow though.

Yeah, Nebraska looked smooth, but it was basically a scrimmage for them.

McNeese St only had 9 days of practice coming into the game, due to Hurricane's Laura and Delta damaging their arena.

We'll see how the Huskers look against Nevada who'd have likely destroyed them last year. Nevada wins north of 25 games year in and year out.

Nevada beat NDSU 62-48 today.

I could be really wrong after just one game, but I really like the energy and attitude of this team. if this grows, Nebraska could be good.

I think the Hoiberg hire could be bigger and better than the Frost hire

New team, same FT problems. Maddening.

69 - 66 final.

I'm surprised it was as close as it was. Nevada could/should have won by double digits.

I don't think FT's were the problem.

Yeah, they were 14-23 when I posted that and then they made the rest.

They played that sagging man to man, and we couldn't shoot them out of it. Hoiberg likes shots at the rim or 3s. If the 3s aren't falling, shots at the rim will be hard to come by. Not a go to guy yet. Allen was is probably the guy they want but hes been real streaky. Also perhaps some dunking practice is in order. Missed like 4 or 5 through 2 games.

Did do a good job at the defensive end though. Bunch of steals and forced them to make some tough shots.

Another tough one on Saturday. Hopefully the shots are falling.

The shots at the rim weren't going in either.

Nebrasketball had 10 and 9 turnovers respectively in each of it's first two games

McNeese St had 27 turnovers
Nevada had 21 turnovers

This is a flip for what we've seen out of the Huskers for decades.

Seems ball handling has been a priority.

Shooting was cold against Nevada (48% - 29%) and Nevada had twice as many defensive rebounds (39-20) as the Huskers. Again, it was Nevada and not someone like South Dakota. Nevada probably finishes in the top half of the Big 10 in a given year. Get those closer and Nebraska wins that game comfortably.
90% of the field of 64 has at least one game like that in a season. Typically more like 4 or 5 games like that.

For the onset of year two in the Hoiberg era, the future looks bright.

Derrick Walker off suspension. A viable inside threat. Hopefully will be able to get higher% shots and we can stave off those droughts.
