We could bring in Owens and Moss in their primes and it wouldn't matter. Two words: Alex Smith

We have what should be one of the best red zone targets in the league in Vernon Davis. If VD played for the Patriots he would be considered the best TE ever to play the game.

lol, vernon is a vertical threat, not so much a red zone threat.

The only real question that 49er fans or 49er management should be asking themselves is if TO helps them win a Super Bowl. If the answer is no then forget it, if the answer is maybe then you need to sign him. Period. Who gives a shit what he did 8 years ago to you. Its not like you'd be signing him for a long term deal. The reality is that Owens numbers from any of the last 3 years ( when he was supposedly " washed up") would make him the best WR on the 49ers. It hurts absolutely nothing to bring him in and work him out. I understand why no one signed him at the start of the year, coming off an injury and being a notorious diva doesnt get you signed but are you guys trying to win a Super Bowl or are you more concerned with holding an 8 year grudge??

...and that may happen after this Sunday, but it did not happen back in October when Morgan went down, so for what ever the reason(s) is/are it seems like there is an intrinsic resistance to Owens.

How Hastings/Matthews perform Sunday will fill in a lot of blanks, but one thing for sure we will not bring anyone in this week.

Nice! I think the Hawks are going to surprise tomorrow nite... As to the TO thing I dont have an answer for you. I get thinking he may cause disruption but the flip side is that he may come in and absolutely bust his ass to impress for a deal from someone next year. If you guys had a different HC I could see being worried but Harbaugh would keep TO in check IMO. I absolutely think its worth at least a look to see what he has. I mean if he doesnt knock your socks off then you simply dont sign him. If he looks fantastic then what could it possibly hurt to give him a shot?? TO is a doucher but even he isnt stupid enough to come into a playoff situation and make waves after a year of going unsigned for fear of his antics.

I don't think so, especially with Coker suspended. Doesn't this game have the biggest point spread of all the Bowl games, in Oklahoma's favor? I think it's going to get ugly for the Hawkeye's. But I'll be watching with a cold 12 pack of Yuengling.

I actually think Coker being out may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Oklahoma has a great run defense but just an average pass defense so I think Iowa will be alot more air oriented tomorrow than they would have been otherwise. Plus OU is down to like their 4th and 5th WR's and 3rd string RB so I cant see them putting up enough points to cover the spread. Not sure Iowa will win but itll be close.

What NFL WR or TE doesn't drop passes? But have you ever watched Brady? He's great because he puts the ball in the perfect spot damn near every throw, thus making is easier to catch. C'mon man!!!

I'm done with this T.O. crap, Harbaugh knows better and he'll do what's best for the team right now and leave the T.O. crap for message board material.

Out here!

Vernon Davis leads in drops
That is just 9 drops this season. I don't want to find how many he's dropped in previous seasons. I can tell that you don't watch many 49ers games (highlight don't count) by the Vernon would be the greatest te comment. I'm talking about perfect thrown passes bouncing off his hands. I can think of two for sure td's this season (one last week). Get all the facts first.

just by signing him again, it'll be a distraction to start with? the media will create a "TO bowl" before he even puts on the pads. later, all he has to do is say one small thing and the media will blow it up. why even try?

we're primarily looking for a back-up, someone who MIGHT have to go in. looking at this situation, Hastings makes sense, cause he MIGHT also have to back-up on coverage.

No need to come at me sideways, talking down to me. I can easily throw out that I'll fuck your old ass up. I can also throw out that you could test me if you live local. I don't have to google that, bitchass muthafucka. Don't talk smart behind a computer, I'm in the Bay Area right now.

Look back at the posts. I never came at you sideways once. I simply stated an opinion. My fault if I was wrong about how many 9er games you've seen, which I can't see how you think VD doesn't drop more balls than any 49er I've ever seen, and I've been a fan since about 84.
We're both 49er fans, let's not get out of hand. My bad, no sense of bickering thousands of miles away about the same team we both want to succeed.
