Santos. Becomes are new, David lite in a sense. In the PT he's gotten so far the kid has been in on every pile....always around the ball it seems like.

I say he breaks out, becomes are leading tackler, and becomes the D's true leader

Sure, but how in the world is that going to be a surprise??? I think that's pretty much expected right now.

I think rose could break out too. Jonathan that is....

On offense I say it's one of the guards....I can't even take a guess as too who cause our depth and current starters and 2 deep seem fluid on the line pretty much all the way up until gameday

Garrison put a stop to that. It's not nearly as questionable as last year.

It's expected that santos is going to be all B1G 2nd or first team? And by surprise Im think breakout....I expect santos to have the biggest breakout season on the team....

This is not your thread chuck. LOL. Make your own thread called "break out players" if you want.

I'm talking about totally off the radar kids from the view point of Husker Nation, not the whole country. Santos is far from off the radar as far as Husker fans are concerned.

I would be surprised if Santos is a star in 2013.....that is just me personally.

He hasn't really done a damn thing yet except looked really aggressive and made a couple tackles.

Again, just my too sense.

Afalava is going to be uge on the outside, he looked real good at the R/W game. McMullen is going to show some people up too, especially with Moss doing the penis thing instead

Maybe one of these already expected to do a lot, but:
Offense: Enunwa (king of gametime)
Defense: Was going to say Harvey Jackson but that's there already, hoping it's Kevin Williams

Honestly I'm not ultra concerned about the D guys....

I actually think it will be better than last year. Not a lot, but good enough to actually be considered a defense.

I just think there is to many athletes to get blown out. They might not know the system perfectly, which could lead to lots of points, but I think they are athletic enough to where they won't get 63 hung on them. I say the most they let up all season is 45

One could theoretically put Penn St or maybe even Northwestern (that could throw up some points) in there as well.

Mich St and Iowa will have good enough defenses to potentially hold NU into the 20's, so if either of them can find an offense in 2013 they'll be contenders for the upset.

The fact is NU can't rely on the offense putting up 46 week in and week out.

45 63 doesn't matter which one that isn't a number assign to good defenses, or defense deserving blackshirts

Even at 45 your asking your offense to throw up 60 a game which is epic even for a mike leach offense

It's show and been proving offense will have bad games and Taylor will make some bad decision so that defense better put that number under 30.

Realistically I see our offense putting up 40-50 season avg
Defense is gonna have keep it under 30. If we we a breakout season defense needs to be under 30 if it goes to 40 then offense need to go up to 50-60

I almost feel in big games we have to have a 1/2 td to possession ratio.

Saying every possession is un realistic but 1/2 might need to be the goal if defense doesn't step up

Guys I think you're to focused on the number I stated. I was trying to explain that the D is going to be improved over last year just because of the athletes and speed on the field.

Yeah it's still probably going to be a below average defense, but I think y'all got focused to much on the number 45 instead of my actual point

And I said 45 is the MOST I expect. Not EVERY game. So no I'm not asking that the offense throw up 60 a game (even though this offense actually might). 60 might be necessary 1, 2, or 3 times IMO

Late to the thread, but here's what I think

Offense - Jamal Turner (not sure it's a surprise, but I think he outshines both Kenny Bell and Enunwa in 2013, and that would be a surprise to many)
Defense - Corey Cooper (from all accounts during the spring he had the best spring of any player....)
Special Teams - Terrell Newby/Nate Gerry (whichever one returns kicks)
