Albert Breer:

49ers LB Ahmad Brooks has a grade 1 AC sprain in his shoulder. Hurt it in the 2Q in Atl, told me he tweaked it again hitting Ryan at the end

I agree, I was hoping they would try an over the top bomb vs ATL but what they were doing was working so well, why bother

If Balt overcommits to the run, I can see Kaep trying to burn em with Moss, especially on the turf

I wonder what would have happened if the Falcons scored the TD. They wouldn't hold back the over the top bomb if they needed it. I'd rather have won that way, but I'm glad they didn't score, because winning wouldn't have been guaranteed.

San Francisco 49ers ? Niner Insider Blog ? SFGate.com » 2 Washburn alums in Super Bowl

During college, Wilhoite, 26, one of the San Francisco’s core special-teams players, worked at Red Lobster, shoveled snow and was an intern at Aviva Life Insurance Company to make ends meet. With no interest from NFL teams, he graduated from Washburn in 2010, played a season in the now-defunct United Football League with the Omaha Nighthawks in 2011 and then … nothing.

He might as well have said water is wet or cows go moo.

Every time a team pops film on an opposing team they can see a lot of things the can exploit.

That's where the chess match comes into play because an offense works to exploit a defense and a defense works to not get exploited by an offense.

So any DC worth their salt is going to watch film and study to see how the opposing offense might try to exploit their defense and scheme around that.

Super Bowl 2013: 49ers' Randy Moss stands by claim he's the best receiver in NFL history - San Jose Mercury News

Moss, in 2007, broke one of Rice's records by catching 23 touchdown passes for the New England Patriots. Moss noted Wednesday that Rice never phoned him to offer congratulations, something Moss said he'd do to anyone who's surpassed one of his records.

"With the respect and love I have for (Rice), not that I wanted a call, but I thought I would at least get a call to say, 'Congratulations' or something like that," Moss said.

------------

"If I had two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, what would my numbers be? I worked with one for a few years and that was Tom Brady," Moss said. "Give me Tom Brady for the next five or six years and you'll see what my numbers would be...

Greg Roman's creativity sparked San Francisco 49ers offense to Super Bowl XLVII - NFL - Jim Trotter - SI.com

Before playing the 49ers in Week 2, Detroit linebacker Stephen Tulloch studied tape of San Francisco's season-opening win at Green Bay. After a while he could only shake his head, noting that the offense used 10 different personnel groups in its first 15 snaps.

"Since I've been in the league it's the first time I've really seen a team that mixes its personnel that much," Tulloch said after losing 27-19 at Candlestick Park. "It kind of keeps you on your toes when you're out there. You can't get comfortable. You have to be ready for sub packages at all times."

--------

The beauty of Roman's approach is that he's not wedded to one idea. While he believes in flexibility and creativity, he also knows his mind's capabilities are tied to his players' skill sets. That's why his first priority is to develop game plans that accentuate their abilities. It's working. Last season after coming from Stanford with coach Jim Harbaugh and other members of the Cardinal staff, the offense scored three or more touchdowns just four times. This season it has done so 10 times.
