In Beltre we trust.
Choo is set to have ankle surgery. Dude played all year on a bad ankle...How the fuck was that even allowed?

Come on Rev.....this can't be news to ya can it?
Now....your outrage over "how can this be allowed" is totally on point. Who is held accountable for him taking the field day-after-day with an injury which now requires surgery, and perhaps just as importantly....a season which we knew was lost several months ago?
Cabrera gets on base a lot more than Alex and he still hit 13 more HR's this year.
Anybody interested in CarGo still? He's under team control for 3 more years during his 29 30 and 31 age years. The injuries are a huge concern though, but while he's on the field he's MVP caliber. Maybe COL would take some of the remaining salary, but I'm still not sure. Just an idea.
That's why I am so livid. If they thought he could possibly need ankle surgery, why wait until now? That should have been done in June or July.....
We're not in disagreement here young man.
Putting Coo in this position - meaning allowing him to play while injured - is absurd. Beyond actually.
I expect a man of Choo's stature to play as long and as hard as he can. That probably defines who he is as a person and player.
But I expect our manager and FO to take the monkey off his back.
This is the epitome of a moment where you want to take your head and slam it against a desk multiple times. So very frustrating and disheartening to learn. It really makes me question the competence of the training staff.
I understand.
But the putting blame at the feet of the "training staff" is letting some much bigger fish off the hook IMO. Most players say they're fine, especially when they're not. Choo is no exception.
And as I've already stated, he's a man of immense pride and dignity. I truly believe that he felt a HUGE obligation to help this team through it's worst time of need in many years. He was going out every day without "outside interference" as long as he could breath.
Pure negligence. Place it where you will.Someone has to step in though. Who didn't do their job and check him out after he continued to struggle? I mean we are brainless fans and we asked if he was healthy for months...So what the hell man?
Did you read where Choo also said his elbow bothered him all season, and that his ankle initially did not need surgery...don't know how he may have known this unless a doctor told him so...but if true, then playing on it during the season caused the injury to increase to the point surgery was needed...and a cartilage tear to boot, which is serious. I share Rev's anger here. I applaud Choo's attitude and desire, but this is just stupid. We just signed this guy to a 7 year mega deal and we risked his future like this?? He should have been shut down, especially after we faded from contention by the all star break. Who's running this ship?? JD, training staff, ownership??? Time for some common sense ...Someone has to step in though. Who didn't do their job and check him out after he continued to struggle? I don't know, but this is the same kind of wtf comments that we heard when Fielder got hurt. Either our medical staff is clueless (doubtful) or they think we are morons...anyway, these explanations are concerning to me.I just wonder if they found a doctor to rubber stamp him on a second opinion. Or are they using this as an excuse for his poor season?![]()
It appeared on occasion FO just turned their heads to obvious blunders.Did you read where Choo also said his elbow bothered him all season, and that his ankle initially did not need surgery...don't know how he may have known this unless a doctor told him so...but if true, then playing on it during the season caused the injury to increase to the point surgery was needed...and a cartilage tear to boot, which is serious.
