Would he make a good college coach?
Hmmm, tough question.

Most kids these days aren't into having a disciplinarian as an HC.

The flip side is BB brings the credentials of telling these kids, if you want to make it in the NFL this is what you need to be doing.

I personally would have no issue with him as a player. But as an owner, Dean or Athletic Director I might have a different opinion.

I don't think kids care as much about who the HC is anymore. The NIL recruiter has more value than the HC at this point. Not saying a HC doesn't matter, but the value has lowered. Part of the reason Saban decided to hang it up.

I would also say the transfer portal would drive BB crazy. He kind of has that mentality of I"ll commit to you when you commit to the program. And with players being able to move at any moment I think he would struggle to know which players to commit his efforts towards. I could see him though doing well with the transfer portal of bringing players in that are struggling at other programs and promising them that he can help get them looking good enough to make it to the NFL.

All good points.

So ESPN reporting BB signs a 5 year deal with UNC. He'll be 77 when his contract ends. Never coached at the collegiate level.

They must be paying him a butt ton.

Good luck to him and UNC.

Ego and catching Shula be damned, he just wants to coach. Until he wins a conference championship and the NFL comes calling again.

May...or may not...mean anything.

But interesting.

This IMO is a dilemma, on one hand Mayo has done nothing to make this team better and probably deserves the boot. On the other have we really given him enough time? Then we have to question whether or not Robert Kraft is willing to accept the egg on his face? At this point do I feel Mayo is the man for the job? No!

How many college championships did Shula win?

I'm ok with giving him another year. I don't know that any coach will help if NE doesn't open their purse strings during FA. Having said that, if they address the current lack of talent in FA let's see what a 2nd year Mayo can do.

You can't contradict yourself. Either he deserves to be fired or he doesn't. If he deserves it, fire him. If he doesn't or is on the fence then keep him.

No one could have repaired the damage that has been done to this team in one or even two years. Meyo hasn't been forthcoming about anything because he doesn't want to paint himself into a corner. The guy that hasn't been doing his job is Wolfe. He's doing very little to put his ass on the line in order to keep his job. What he doesn't seem to understand is that Kraft hasn't been convinced that he is a GM and hasn't given him the title. That creates another problem. He'll be wary of going out and spending Kraft's money because he'll continue being afraid of not getting the job. He's the one that should be fired, not Mayo.

That's the big difference between BB and Mayo. BB had the power to call an agent and bring in his guy. Mayo doesn't and Wolfe might be countering everything that Mayo asks of him. We just don't know what's going on.

Ummm ok, if you see that as a contradiction? If I hire you as a mechanic but don't give you any spare parts to fix a vehicle should you be fired? It'd be very difficult to evaluate your abilities.

I certainly don't think the Kraft's nor Wolfe have set him up for success.
