It was pretty obvious a couple of years ago that the Patriots had cobbled together championship teams with spit and baling wire because they had Brady. That philosophy ran out. Brady needed an entire new team behind him. He was good enough to find one in Tampa Bay.

The Patriots couldn't replace the whole team. There were other teams building, too, and teams like Indy and Buffalo were why quarterbacks didn't flock to the worn-out glory of New England.

Cam Newton gave them nothing but a better draft position.

Funny Item 1: Bill has "Media Friends"... I think he has BB confused with BP.

Funny Item 2: BB, or the Pats in general, owe him anything.

He lost me after that.

This is a complete garbage statement. I'll take the SB win over Atlanta as an example: Brady did his part to dig that 25 point hole, especially that horrendous pick six. Then when he was lights out, the rest of the team had to keep Atlanta (with that year's MVP at QB) scoreless (plus created a crucial turnover). I seem to remember a certain spitball named James White executing pretty flawlessly too.

The problem becomes this: The Pats build a high standard for themselves, then are compared to that standard instead of the real standard... the one used for the rest of the league.

Watching the 2016 season DVD. Just finished the regular season at 14-2 and are playing the Texan in the playoffs.

It seems like eons ago with Ninkovich, Malcolm Mitchell, McLellan, Hogan, Bennett and a few other especially Blount and Lewis. That was also Van Noy's first season here.

Then i realized just how good BB is at picking up scraps from the heap..........Blount, Van Noy, McClellan, Simon, Moss, Hogan just to name a few. It actually got me excited about having $66M and just what Bill might do and not spend much more than half of it.

The best part of this is the comeback win over the Falcons in the Super Bowl LI.

Again the media in Boston is totally ripshit. They never had any idea that Cam and Bill were ready to sign a contract and they've been putting a ton of effort in trying to figure out what would happen in SF that would send JG back to Foxboro. Tonight everyone knows exactly what happened and why Bill is staying with Cam.

Now the patriots can enter the free agent fray and tell WRs that they have a QB. Cam isn't going to be the real QB becausee his deal is unreachable incentives and those account foe $10,5M of his new contract.

Now Matt Cassell is pissing on their fires. He's saying that Cam will be a much, much better quarterback in 2021 for several reasons. The first and most important is that he has a beginner's knowledge of the offense. He'll have a training camp and preseason to test it again and figure out how to work out the bugs. And what Cassell thinks is equally important is that he'll be vaccinated and won't be sick with Covid and not be able to regain his physical strength for the last 8 weeks of the season.

Albert Breer of MMQB/SI says that the Patriots didn't have a solid backup plan for the day that Tom Brady would leave or retire or be lost to injury. The Patriots are now like every other team in the league and they must find their way to a new long term solution (quarterback).. He believes that the Patriots just might bring in a veteran free agent and he believes that they will draft another quarterback later in the draft.

For the first time in two decades the Boston media has so alienated the patriots that they don't get as much as hint of anything that's going on at Gillette stadium. Because they're so in the dark, they continue to express negative points of view and will make their own lives miserable when everything starts to come together in July. The Patriots are going to be even less accessible han they've been in the past.

Just in case you weren't sure it was a hit-piece, here is another quote by Will Leitner:

" he’s sick of the media praising Belichick’s iconic standing as a winner, when New England’s rampant history of cheating should be in the first sentence of his biography."

Jason Smith on the Patriots' boisterous offseason: “Why didn’t Bill Belichick do this in the last couple years of Brady?? It’s pretty simple, and not nearly as far-fetched as it sounds.

He did. He went all in for 1 more SB so Tom could have 4 like Joe Montana. And they did in '14. And again in '16, almost in '17 and again in '18.
Then there was no cap space money in '19 or '20.
And by other rumors, Brady had already made up his mind to leave regardless because he wanted to prove he could win without BB and because he wanted to win on two different teams like PM had.

He knows he needs to keep getting Tom Brady weapons, but there’s only one reason the Patriots stopped getting Tom Brady weapons, and it’s because they WANTED to.

Bennet, Gordon, Brown, Mitchell, Sanu, Harry, Cooks.

Nope, Bill didn't try at all to bring in weapons. Not. At. All.

So are the Texans suddenly in need of considering a QB in the draft?

Too bad.
Thought he came through at a time when the Pats didn't have much for WR's.
If I remember, he was better than Aaron Dobson.
