I thought it was an interesting hire.

Going from one extreme to another. I predict he'll struggle his entire career to beat Stoops.

Could be a real good hire.

He has some things to prove imo.

Particularly how much of his success has come because of Bridgewater? We may not know for a while because Bridgewater could get drafted where he doesn't fit.

Going out on a limb I'm gonna say it's not a home-run hire and Texas will continue to be a 3rd tier program. Unfortunately that's not gonna be good enough 3 years from now.

a lot of the targeted coaches to hire fer the Tejas job declined

this will be interesting

They will be 9 win teams at the minimum imo.

So the Baylor and UCLA coaches turned Texas down. Who else?

To be honest I don't think this will be the hire Texas was looking for. That said, I don't think many coaches are available right now or looking for jobs. Everyone seemingly is pretty happy where they're at, and if we fired Bo, I don't think we would've landed a coach worth a damn either. Nobody's leaving anywhere.

not a bad hire like Blackshirt said not many coaches out there most don't wanna jump shit

Texas pressure is also part of it. texas wants 11 wins and no less than 10. but strong gonna have to adjust to big12 which is all speed and fast offenses.

If the Texas alums/boosters/regents would let Strong just coach he'd have been a great hire. I just don't think it's in his personality to be a political glad hander the likes of Royal/Brown to allow him the success he deserves. In all fairness he probably should have waited until the Florida job opened (which will probably be at the end of next year).

Despite all the bluster (from Texas) this does show one thing--all the money in the world won't necessarily buy you the "best" coach.
