Strength of this years draft

Most of you probably saw this, but one exec stated that last years #1 draft pick Eric Fisher might not be a top 15 pick in this years draft because it is so strong.

I agree with this. There is some seruous talent on the offensive side of the ball. Major talent at WR and OL. I think the DL position may be underrated in this draft. I think it is weak at the 3 tech though. I think this is why we may have a problem getting a difference maker at 16. Donald would fit the defense perfectly but I don't see him getting past the Bears. Jernigan has a high bust potential IMO. I also think the safety position is weak. If Donald is gone I would not mind Martin.

If you are talking about Kareem Martin he isn't a 1st rounder anyway.

This is a kid I watched almost weekly ... that's where he should go
and honestly I wouldn't take him in the second .... unless we did a trade and could grab him bottom 2nd top of the 3rd

I disagree. We take a safety. There will be plenty of players we need left at 16. We don't need to trade down unless we get another second round pick with it.

I want a safety ..... but clser we get to the draft the more convinced we arent going that direction.

I agree D-lineman or a trade down is coming

His motor is fine ..... Could use a little more strength
But I think Rod could fix any flaw he has in his technique ...... possibly in training camp before the season started

at some point the Cowboys have to address their Defensive shortcomings especially along the DL and at LB, signing a WR, TE or QB/RB doesn't help the team. with the 1st thru 4th round picks they have to draft to fill glaring needs and then 5th thru 7th they can go with BAP

Say Clowny fell ..... that allows you to move on from Ware's contract
Say Watkins fell..... Allows you to move on from Dez's future contract.

Both would go along way toward fixing our cap and both are day 1 starters

However other than those 2 ( might be 1-2 other guys) that fell .... you know a team would be willing to give up some picks to be able to get a top guy that has slipped a few spots.
Which would certainly be ideal for the Cowboys who have alot of holes and the depth of this draft.

And that is very much a Jerry move. Dez wasn't a need pick ...... He just slipped

you will know in a couple of days when FA starts. If they try to get Melton cheap ..... I don't see us going for Donald or any 3 Tech in the 1st

If we dont ..... I'm pretty sure thats exactly the goal in the 1st ( OFC all depends on who falls and who is drafted higher than expected)

I hope it isn't that cut and dried. First off, if we are only focusing on a couple of positions and ignoring all other players we are foolish. OT may not be as big a need as DL, but if we view one of these guys as a super star stud and the defensive players as just "pretty good" we need to act on that (not saying that is the case of course) or we'll guarantee mediocrity for years to come.

More importantly, you guys need to remember how Jerry operates. Last year he traded down and got his asz handed to him by SF and everyone knows it and talked about it. So knowing he is more interested in how what he does is viewed than how it helps the team, I don't think he trades down unless he gets very good value on the draft chart so he has something to point to and say "look how good I did". Now, we all know last year he lied and said they have their own draft chart that said they got fair value, so who knows...life with Jerry in charge...
