Screw him. I say slap the tag on him again. Sooner or later he needs to show up to work or he isn't going to get paid. If he wants to keep wasting his prime years then he'll just guarantee that even after this saga ends he won't get a big contract.
Yep, you can't fix stupid.

If they end up doing this I can see the NFLPA raising hell in the next CBA and forcing a rule change to where a team can't use any type of tag on the same player 2 years in a row.

So predictable

Steelers: Hey, we're gonna tag you even if we have no interest in signing you

Bell's Agent: Lmao, ok but you're gonna have to sign this no trade clause for the transition tag; because we all know you don't want to FT Bell

Steelers: Well fuck

The tag made no sense unless they already had a team tell them they would trade for Bell, which was never likely anyway.

Not surprising. Easiest move in the world to shit on if the Steelers had no interest in a LTD or FT.

IDT Steeler fans care either way at this point. Compensation has always been top of mind with PIT...The main thing is don't let this comp pick BS stop them from pursuing a CB in FA.

There was too much uncertainty with the tag that could easily screw them over.
Doubt they were getting anything more than a 3rd for him anyway since he sat out a year. Also RB's are so devalued it letting him go was the best option.

Boy I hope not but why would none of us be surprised if the later is true.

Yep...I don't blame them, but they so badly want to get something in return for Bell, it could enter their minds when it comes to pursuing a FA.

'Word on street' Le'Veon ballooned to 260 lbs Bell's listed playing weight is 225. Bell had some body composition issues as a rookie but totally morphed himself ahead of Year 2 and has had no conditioning worries ever since. However, taking a year away from the game, partying in Miami, and not having to practice likely didn't do him any good. Odds are Bell has slimmed back down by now as he looks for a monster payday in free agency, but he's got some buyer beware marks against him. Bell is said to be looking for $48 million over the first three years of any contract he signs this offseason.
Jets Mailbag: How does Gang Green really feel about acquiring Le’Veon Bell or Antonio Brown?

Good luck to him as a FA in March.
