The Giants got back-to-back home runs from Jung Hoo Lee and Matt Chapman in the top of the 3rd inning. Lee has eight hits in 19 at-bats so far this spring.

runner on third, less than two outs...

Schmitt doubles.

Maybe things are different this year?

McCray leads off the 7th with a single then...

steals second...

and steals third.

Good teams need AT LEAST 4 good OFers, and I can see McCray maybe elevating himself into one of those spots this year. And worst case, he can be a defensive replacement/pinch-runner. I love defensive wizards.

Agreed, especially defensive wizards that can also steal bases and score from second on a single.

Seems like the Giants of recent vintage had a hard time moving a runner from 1st to 2nd even on a double and the only way to score a runner from 2nd was to hit a home run.

Scoring from 2nd on a single?

Is that even legal?

For sure, but it's nice to have some optimism. It'd certainly be a downer to see day after day of 0'fers and LOBes this spring
We do need to pump the brakes on Aldridge, he went like 2 for 12 with 8 Ks before they just sent him back down. He's only 20, Ryan Howard (a good comp) didn't make the bigs until he was 25, same as Aaron Judge. Big guys need time to learn to cover all that space.

Since today is rained out, some fringe bullpen candidates for the bullpen so far:

Enny Romero: 5 IP, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO
Lou Trivino: 3 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO
Antonio Jimenez: 2.2 IP, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO
Joey Lucchesi: 2.2 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO
Joel Peguero: 2.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO
Carson Ragsdale: 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO
Tristan Beck: 3 IP, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO

at most two open spots after Walker, Rogers, Doval, Hjelle, Miller, RanRod.

Also, you've gotta think that at least one of the SPs who don't make the rotation will be in there (Roupp, Bird, Harry). so really, one open spot.

Edit: I forgot about Bivens. Could be zero open spots

Only Giants in camp who have yet to appear in a game are Erik Miller and Tom Murphy. I'm starting to wonder if Miller will be ready by OP.
