Crawford catches up to a high fastball for a HR. Good sign.

Crawford catches up to a high fastball for a HR. Good sign.

Saw that game last night and during that specific AB, Crawford never actually looked like he wanted to settle for making contact. From the moment he stepped into the batter's box, he wanted to go yard. His first pitch strike was a mammoth cut. The HR he hit was not a solid line drive that carried, it was an uppercut with the "I'm putting this one out of the yard" intentions written all over it.

I am stoked that the kid has the confidence to do this, but I am a little concerned because I don't think I like the idea that Crawford is ever looking for the big hit. He's not Adam Dunn - unless you compare him to the 2011 Adam Dunn. I would rather have .260 with 2 home runs all season than .220 with 10 bombs.

I liked that he kept his hands high enough to catch up to the pitch. Not being able to hit a high fastball is the quickest way to fail at the ML level. I think we'd be lucky to get .260 out if him this year. I'm thinking more like .240/.320/.400

The passed ball was just Chez3 being lazy. Kid stuck out his glove, but never really made an attempt to really reach out and grab that ball.

The wild pitch was all on Loux. That ball was a 58-footer the moment it left his hand. It had so much break and spin on it that the ball was never going to get to home plate.

Yes, that's the way I saw it too. But if one thinks Chez3 needs to go down and work on his defense, do you really let him off the hook on the second one? Confirmation bias.

This. He needs some work with Decker in Fresno.

Giants are at HoHoKam Park today to face the Cubs. Here’s the lineup

CF Blanco
LF Cabrera
3B Sandoval
C Posey
1B Huff
RF Schierholtz
SS Theriot
2B Fontenot
LHP Surkamp

Nice of Bochy to get those two former Cubs in the middle of the infield

Tim went 6 innings today. 6 hits, 1 run, 4 K's, 0 walks. He looks ready for Opening Day. Also Wilson got in there, faced 6 batters 1 hit and 2 walks but also 2 K's. Scott Munter had to come in and finish the inning.

Pablo, Pagan, Theriot all homered, Franchez has a hit and a run scored, Cabrera had a 2-bagger. Pablo also had a sac fly.

Nate threw out a runner at home, Pagan stole a base (Giants have a league leading 21 thefts). Giants up 7-2

Theriot smoked his and it still barely went over, lol. He had a great 8 pitch at bat though before the HR.

Cabrera's 2B was a bit misleading. He did end up on 2nd due to heads up baserunning, but it was a high hopper up the middle that tipped off the 2B's glove towards Left-Center.

Timmay pitched well even though it was just against the A'ss.

Bummed I missed the home run by Pagan.

I'm thinking Franchez starts the year on the DL. Vogelsong might head there as well. This might allow the Giants to keep a few extra infielders. I'm betting the phillies will take a long look at anyone the Giants drop at the end of spring.

I was thinking the same yesterday. The Giants may start Franchez on the DL to keep Burriss. Manny would be snapped up by any number of teams when we cut him. Can't see the advantage of putting Song on the DL though, unless you want to keep someone like Gillaspie up.
