Definite FUBAR on my part! All I can say is I was dazzled by all of the top 10 teams playing Games against that P6 C-USA and tried to bestow that status on the Bobcats. I do stand corrected, and I would edit it if I could.* Actually, Texas St. is a Sun Belt team.
None of my Top 25 picks lost to unranked teams last week, as they went 21-0 vs the unranked. Only #9 Oregon lost to #14 Auburn & #22 Miami (FL) was beaten by #18 Florida.
It's an OPINION POLL after 1 game. Right now Oregon is (0-1) just like Akron is (0-1). Time will tell which team is better. Right now, they are equally (0-1), as Auburn and Illinois are equally (1-0). Maybe Auburn bombs? Maybe Lovie Smith has turned things around in C-U, IL? Time will tell. Next week, my rankings will change.
Like I mentioned previously, I do not have any pre-conceived ideas and all teams start out equally. It's fluid. The wheat will separate itself from the chaff. Right now, there is a lot of wheat, and I have a sneaking suspicion that your current top 25 is going to look different next week, the week after that and definitely at the end too. Enjoy the process!
Good questions all. I do consider MOV, but it is tempered over time by SOS. Also, I do not specifically differentiate between P5 and G6 schools, as they are all FBS schools to me, and to my knowledge, this is an FBS Top 25 not a P5 Top 25. However, I do take into account FBS schools that play FCS schools. At the moment, both South Carolina and East Carolina are (0-1), so they are equal. As the season goes on, that will change. It's Week 1 and a fluid situation. Keep on winning, and they have as good of a chance as any team in rising in my ranking! Good luck to UNC!I appreciate what you’re doing, but i have a question...
UNC beats South Carolina, an FBS power 5 team, in a neutral site game with a true freshman QB and we’re unranked.
But, NC State is ranked in the top 10 for beating ECU from Conference USA?
Is there some type of margin of victory stat i missed? Are teams rewarded for their margin of victory over Power 5/6 schools compared to group of 5?
