Some dude bought the Mustang last week. It was good just for driving a few miles over the causeway to work each day...3 of those days with little girlie in the back seat to preschool.

20141011_134615.jpg

I'm out of ideas now. I liked the Grand Wagoneer for awhile. The mustang was nice for top down summer mornings. I've had Mercedes sedans and an SL, a Lincoln Blackwood...all kinds of shit. But nothing I look at lately appeals. Usually, I had something in mind or at least saw something that I figured I might like to try for awhile.

Got any ideas? I hate to have a car over 50k sit outside and depreciate to drive < 10 miles each day. But whatevs. Whatcha got?

Yes...want. A dude I know who owns a body shop drives an early 70s Ford pickup completely restored and he's about ready to sell. I'd get something like this for about $6,500 and sell it for that much in a couple years.
1969 F-250 - Restored

But I have to take the little fuckers to school and need a back seat. I'll do that truck thang when the bastids can take the bus in a couple years.

I was looking at Jeeps n sech during the end of the Bronco/Steelers game. The 4 door Unlimiteds are nice and only about 20k a few years old.
What's with the FJ Cruiser prices? They fetch Mercedes prices.
Toyota FJ Cruiser 2011 4WD - $24,900

Is this a daily? You need 4 doors? Budget?

Mecum Auto Auction is going on right now in Kissimmee thru January 24th.
I'd go check it out.

Auctions List | Mecum Auctions

Yeah, those are too nice. I always wanted a vintage Ferrari, but can you imagine this out in the parking lot all rainy summer? 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta S/N 10717, Same Owner Since 1970 | Mecum Auctions

I need a back seat to take the girls to school 3 days a week on my way to work. The mustang was just big enough to fit behind the passenger seat but not the driver's. Now I gotta take em' both and that's mostly why I sold the Mustang.

I don't really have a budget. But I like stuff way down the depreciation schedule because otherwise it's a waste....and nothing too nice or collectible because they'll sit outside everyday.

Love my Dodge Challenger. They are coming out with an AWD version, but you wouldn't need that in Florida. Pretty roomy and the trunk is huge.

Charger would be more practical I guess...

Huge trunks are a godsend if you've got a dead hooker or three to dump out in the high desert.

Allegedly.

Friend of mine has a 2014 Challenger and I really like it. Why don't they make that in a convertible to compete with the Mustang or BMW 3 series? Anyway, I'd do the Challenger if I trip over a great deal.

I was going to buy a used Ford Flex and put a woody kit on it. But then I realized it would still be a boring station wagon with wallpaper. It's quite practical though...for dumping dead hookers n sech.

I think that is the 6v before they switched to Pentastar (305 HP 6v). Big car, 250 HP, so as long as you aren't worried about torque off the line, that is a sweet cruiser.

Looks great though.

I would spend a little more for more HP. Gotta hear the rumble of a HEMI! Those later model Pentastar v6's are pretty good. Nice speeds in the power band, but not super quick 0-60.

Well, you can pretty much cross that and the Kia equivalent, "R900" I think, off my list. The idea is to not waste $ on a rapidly depreciating car just to drive it < 10 miles each day. Those will drop $30k in just the few years. Figure that per mile...like a buck per mile! Besides, doesn't seem like much fun.

Maybe an E350 Cabriolet? The back seat might be just big enough. Maybe around $20k would be depreciated enough. Mercedes-Benz® E350 Cabriolet-2011, Black

Looking for a daily driver that already took the massive write down, reliable, and with room?

My recommendation would be to look for a good used Lexus. Will last forever with maintenance and most of them can be had for a steal off some old dude who drove it for a while or some suit that leased and babied it.

I hate and will never own a GM product, but if you are looking for something with eye-appeal I do have to say I like the look of the Caddy CTS. Have a buddy that has a burgandy/wine colored one and it is absolutely gorgeous. Rides really nice too. My wifes Camry XLE has more bells and whistles, but not as eye catching and EVERYONE has one.

I had a burgundy CTS for a couple years. Yeah, that thing was fun to drive and, yeah, I'll never own another GM after they fucked us for 47 billion taxpayer dollars to bail the union then declared bankruptcy. Fuck GM.

I'm starting to remember I end up getting whatever I get a deal on. Since I only do this every 2 or 3 years, I forget.
Today I found of those BMW 3 Series hardtop convertibles with only 24k miles. Grandma must've taken good care of it...even the window rubber gaskets look like brand new. It's literally like brand new. Because it's a 2010, I might be able to get it tomorrow for about $17,500. I might have to take this one for a couple years and then get the new Continental.

Looks like this but with normal rims:

Yeah for $17.5 I'd snap that up. Not a lot of room in the backseat though.
