LOL! Did you see my original ballot?
No was it pretty similar?
LOL! Did you see my original ballot?
I thought you copied it exactly until I saw you had Boise a spot or two lower.
I don't pay especially close attention to teams not in the SEC because they hold little bearing on me this season, except Boise State.
As such, I don't feel very qualified in polling (even though I feel more qualified than some of the voters thus far). I will, however, give my thoughts on a few things.
BCS Championship prediction: Alabama > Oklahoma
I hate to hand the championship to a team with such big issues at quarterback, but Alabama showed us last time that they can win the title even with their quarterback hardly playing at all (McElroy threw for 58 yards in the BCSNC and I want to vomit when I hear people giving him any kind of credit). We know how good Richardson is, but Bama will also probably need a powerful number 2 the likes of which they had in Richardson until now (I don't follow Bama enough to know who their backups are and how good they are).
Stanford: As I implied above, I don't think the quarterback position is so important that it will always make or break a team. It certainly isn't the case here. Without Harbaugh, Stanford will not finish in the top 10 this year, nor will they win the Pac-12. They have lost far too much at almost every position group to compete at the level they did last season. I would rank them around 15.
About the team I DO know a lot about: This is the most important season in Athens in a long time, but I think this Georgia team is up to the test.
The very blunt mike LB, Christian Robinson, has made it very clear that there were attitude problems in the program last year, and they have all since been purged. I know that optimistic journalism is nothing new, but I think it might be different this year. The freshmen are making much more of a splash in preseason camp then I thought they would, and a handful (particularly Malcolm Mitchell in a much-doubted wide receiver corps) are pushing the upperclassmen to perform. In the past month, my outlook on this season has greatly changed. Every player I had doubts about has reportedly stepped up, and I am beyond excited to see how it all unfolds.
I would not be surprised to see this team go undefeated in the SEC and earn a spot in Atlanta, although I think it would be a little silly to predict a win in that game.
I believe Georgia is easily a top 20 team and possibly top 15.
Is post #125 for real? Even Barack does a better job of hiding his homerism...
