Jason Collins may already be old news just a week after he became the first active male athlete in a pro team sport to publicly reveal he's gay.

According to the Associated Press, Collins is seeking a book deal for his planned memoirs, but at least one of the publishing houses his representative contacted has turned down the veteran NBA center.

An official from that publisher told AP that the extensive media coverage of Collins and concern that his story had already been told were among the reasons for rejecting the story that was big news just days ago.

At least two other publishers are said to have been contacted about the memoir by Collins, who made his revelation in a first-person account published by Sports Illustrated.

A week later...and he's already looking for a book deal.

If you weren't a complete sports schmuck, it would be implied that guys like Stamkos and Ovechkin would not be available. So it should be a given that the type of player you're trying to acquire is not a 50 goal scorer.

Otherwise your original comment would be akin to saying "The Patriots need to trade for Calvin Johnson and JJ Watt"

or "The Red Sox need to trade for Bryce Harper.
