I noticed in the marlins game yesterday (well on my espn ap) how can someone get a save in a 13-1 game?
I haven't looked, but if you pitch the last three innings you can get a save regardless of the score.
Most famous save of all time was a game that was won 30-3 by Texas over Baltimore.I noticed in the marlins game yesterday (well on my espn ap) how can someone get a save in a 13-1 game?
You guys have been around here longer than I have. Why haven't you figured this guy out? This is his MO. He says stupid shit, gets called on it, argues it until he's completely pinned down and then says he was just trolling you.
Yup, Abad did it earlier this year. First time for the Red Sox since Tazawa in 2012. Tim Wakefield had 6 of those saves in 2001/2002. Hoyt Wilhelm is the all time leader with 53 "3 IP" savesI haven't looked, but if you pitch the last three innings you can get a save regardless of the score.
Ahh, how cute! Slankyredbutt is a psychoanalyst wannabe! Precious.

Psychoanalyst? I made no claims as to why you do it, simply that you do.
i forgot about the 3 IP thing. what constitutes "effectively" tho? isnt that an arbitrary standard thats open to interpretation?Saves:
Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- (c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.
