Compilter. Look at some of his peers, who are not in the HOF, who have a higher career OPS+.
Cash
Oliva
Colavito
Powell
Minoso...the list goes on and on

How many of those guys had much shorter careers? Harder to keep rate stats up when you play longer, correct? If Yaz through 2,000ish games (like many of these guys' careers) has a higher OPS+.

Poor logic on your part...

let's conveniently ignore the fact that all of those players you mentioned had at least 6000 fewer plate appearances than Yaz.

And he would not have COMPILED enough stats to get in the HOF.

My logic > your logic.

Yeah, they didn't get the opportunity to compile. That's why Yaz is in the compiler's wing. He isn't in the same wing as Hornsby, Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, Greenburg. He's in the same wing with Biggio and Rabbit Maranville. Yaz in the top 10 in the MVP vote only three times in 23 years. Meh.

Through 1,969 games, Yaz had a 75 career WAR...

That's higher many HOFers, including:
Reggie Jackson
Jim Thome
Barry Larkin
Tony Gwynn
Frank Thomas
Eddie Murray
Ernie Banks
Roberto Alomar
Yogi Berra
Mike Piazza

75 career WAR = HOF worthy

divided by 23 seasons = 3.2 per year. Compiler.

That 75 WAR was from 1961-1973

Did you not read the part where I said 'through 1,969 games had had a 75 WAR? He didn't play 1,969 games through 23 seasons.

75 WAR / 13 years = 5.8 WAR per year

He's not Hornsby, Ruth, Gehrig, or Cobb of course. That's 4 of the top 10 players of all time.

He's far better than Biggio and Maranville

Exactly. He was not a dominator, he was a compiler.

even if you take out Yaz's last 6 seasons, he has over 11000 PA.

You're not smart

Odds that @PolarVortex selectively ignores his math/reading blunder?

I'd put it at 100%.

even if you take out Yaz's last 6 seasons, he has over 11000 PA.

You guys have been around here longer than I have. Why haven't you figured this guy out? This is his MO. He says stupid shit, gets called on it, argues it until he's completely pinned down and then says he was just trolling you.

I guess I'll have to take your word for it. More often than not he just looks like a retard on here.

Takes a bright guy to use Rabbit Marranville as a reference
