I do I just think its a joke. No way a 3rd place team with an 8-8 record should have the 3rd hardest schedule and they shouldn't have a harder schedule then the 1st place team. Makes no sense.

You do realize the main reason their schedule is so "hard" is because they play in the NFC West. 4 games against 11+ win teams will do that. Complaining about that is pointless, they aren't going to change the division make up any time soon.

Also because the west is playing the AFC North which record only looks that good because the entire division beat up on the nfc south

Oh FFS.

The reason why the schedule is "harder" for the Niners is because they are playing the 12 win Seahawks and the 11 win Cardinals.

The Seahawks, otoh, are playing the 11 win Cardinals and the 8 win Niners.

The Cardinals are playing the 12 win Seahawks and 8 win Niners.

So ignoring all other games the Niners have to face 23 wins, the Cardinals face 20 wins, and the Seahawks face 19 wins.

By comparison the Seahawks will face the 12 win Cowboys and 7 win Panthers while the Cardinals will face the the 10 win Eagles and 7 win Saints and the Niners will face the 6 win Giants and 6 win Falcons.

So in the two game SOS games the Seahawks face 19 wins, the Cardinals face 17 wins and the Niners face 12 wins.

So, IOW, the reason why the Niners schedule sucks is because they play in a tough division. Talk to the Raiders about that.

Who you play only matters when it comes to where you play them.

And when.

2015 NFL strength of schedule: Steelers at No. 1, Falcons at No. 32 - CBSSports.com

some tidbits:suds:

Now you might be wondering: Does strength of schedule actually mean anything?

It probably does if you ask the Raiders. Going into the 2014 season, the Raiders were slated to have the toughest strength of schedule based on their opponents' combined 2013 record of 148-108, a winning percentage of .578.

After all 256 regular season games were played, it turned out that the Raiders did have the toughest strength of schedule (their opponents combined to go 146-110) and Oakland finished 3-13. Although this is the Raiders we're talking about, so it's possible they would have gone 3-13 with the easiest schedule.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Dallas Cowboys, who were supposed to have the 18th most difficult schedule going into 2014, based on their opponents' 2013 records. However, after all the games were played in 2014, Dallas ended up having the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL, playing against teams that combined to go 114-142 (.445).:suds:

SOS means absolutely nothing.

Fans of teams that had to face the NFC South last year were worried before the season started. How did that work out?

Exactly which is why nobody gives a damn about the schedule of teams their favorite team plays until the dates/times of these games are released in April

You should hope that your team plays the toughest schedule in the toughest division in football every year. You don't win championships playing the Raiders every week.

Looks like the Steelers, Bengals and Ravens will be battle-tested heading into the playoffs this year.

Yes.

Yes...for a good team such as NE...the soft DIV gives you a leg up on the other AFC contenders when it comes to home field through out, conf record tiebreakers, etc.

For a team with a bad '14 record like say, ATL. They have solid pcs, but injuries, bad HC moves, and a bad DEF resulted in a terrible record...this season they get to play teams that probably have more deficiencies than they do...so it's possible they will have a better record than what the roster should suggest...typically you will get exposed come playoff time.

Ya know...Idk what to expect from CIN this yr...on paper they look good every year. On OFC, they need Eifert healthy...On DEF...they get M. Johnson back @ DE after a stint in TB...imo Peko is just a guy...still, on paper the front 4 looks good...behind them it doesn't look as good if Burfict is not going to be on the field. Back end should be okay with Dre gaining a lot of confidence.

Per norm it boils to Dalton...I think the AFCN gets 2 teams in this year.

They really should take division games out of SOS so that people understand it better in terms of schedule making.
