2015 NFL strength of schedule: Steelers at No. 1, Falcons at No. 32 - CBSSports.com

some tidbits:suds:

Now you might be wondering: Does strength of schedule actually mean anything?

It probably does if you ask the Raiders. Going into the 2014 season, the Raiders were slated to have the toughest strength of schedule based on their opponents' combined 2013 record of 148-108, a winning percentage of .578.

After all 256 regular season games were played, it turned out that the Raiders did have the toughest strength of schedule (their opponents combined to go 146-110) and Oakland finished 3-13. Although this is the Raiders we're talking about, so it's possible they would have gone 3-13 with the easiest schedule.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Dallas Cowboys, who were supposed to have the 18th most difficult schedule going into 2014, based on their opponents' 2013 records. However, after all the games were played in 2014, Dallas ended up having the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL, playing against teams that combined to go 114-142 (.445).:suds:

Despite getting the AFCN + NFCN, that actually seems more inviting than the AFCE + NFCW the Chiefs got stuck with last year.

it could be good for the steelers they play down to crappy teams and win against good teams so :noidea:

We still have to play Oakland next year... Might as well start grieving for that loss :L

Without clicking on the link safe to assume most of the afc north teams are at the top and most of the nfc south teams are at the bottom

Kinda weird that the other NFC South team schedules are ranked 27-29 while ATL is at 32.

Also weird that ATL schedule is easier than tampa considering the only difference in their schedule is ATL play SF/MIN while tampa plays ST Louis & Chicago

Also Atlanta will be playing Tampa Bay. Atlanta won 6 games whereas Tampa only won 2.

I think SoS is somewhat useful but ultimately you never know. The AFC North beat the crap out NFC South last season. Was the because the AFC North was that good or the NFC South was that bad or a little of both?

Indy's at #2, let's hope we don't let the easy schedule get to our heads and play as strong vs. our weakest opponent as we do vs. our strongest.

That schedule is very deceiving. I'm 100% sure the NFC South won't be as bad as it was this year so the Saints, Panthers, & Falcons probably won't be as easy.

It wouldn't shock me too much if the Saints and Panthers do well, but the Falcons are too far into the hole, talent wise, to seriously contend- even if their record is a bit fat in 2015.

Either way, it's really hard to say 6 games vs the AFCS + Bucs doesn't offset the 1st place schedule and rebounding NFCS teams. Just my 2 cents on my way too early prognostication of the situation. It might not be the easiest, but it won't be difficult like it is going to be for the teams in the top 10 of this list.

SOS is a crock. Good teams win and bad teams lose regardless of who they play.

Atlanta went 5-1 against the NFC South which is weird...maybe it's a rivalry thing. Either way, considering they went 1-9 against the rest of the league they can't do much worse outside of the division. I doubt ATL ends up having that kind of conference record again and I think Washington, @Tennessee, @Jacksonville, and Minnesota are winnable games. The Falcons probably get 8 wins max in 2015...anything more would be surprising.

The NFC West has the hardest SOS. Go figure. It seems that the Colts lucked out again. Truth is that this is just going from last season. Things change on a dime in the NFL.

I don't get how an 8-8 49ers team gets the 3rd Hardest schedule. How in the hell does Seattle not get a harder schedule. What a joke the NFL is.

I assume you don't know how the nfl schedule cycle works?

Pretty much every team schedule is known years in advance with the exception of 2 game.

I can tell you the 14 of the 9er's 16 games for the next 3 years.

Next year the Saints for example will be playing NFC West, AFC West, & 6 division games in the south. The only games that isn't known is what team they'll play from the NFC East & NFC North

The Niner's SOS is also harder than Seattle's and Arizona's because it's a little hard to play yourself.

I do I just think its a joke. No way a 3rd place team with an 8-8 record should have the 3rd hardest schedule and they shouldn't have a harder schedule then the 1st place team. Makes no sense.

Seattle, San Fran, & Arizona almost have identical schedules based on records

SF schedule is 143-112-1
SEA schedule is 142-112-2
ARI schedule is 142-113-1

Is this what you're serious complaining about?

The difference between SF & SEA schedule is that SF are playing the Giants & Falcons while Seattle will play Carolina & Dallas.

Now ask yourself would you rather play Dallas/Carolina or Giants/Falcons?

We all know what the answer is
