There's this little thing called the salary cap. Unless the Lakers had cap space to absorb the difference between Westbrook's salary and Kuzma's salary, no dice. And of course, they do not. Westbrook makes $38M, Kuzma makes $2M. Simple, elegant truth that doesn't require even discussing if their talent is equal.

The Lakers are done offering Kuzma in any more deals even the one for Westbrook. Salary cap considerations is one major reason and secondly, he has been told by the Lakers FO and Frank Vogel that he is here to stay.
