8-9 win roster if they stayed healthy. They did not stay healthy.. they will have problems winning without a pass rush.

I don't see McCarthy lasting the season. They are lucky they are not 1-5. Good teams don't get destroyed 4 straight games at home. This is not a good team right now. The Niners are going to destroy them.
I worry about where this team will be in 3 years when Dak and Lambs cap hits are up. When Micah has been paid...Looking at the NFC, Detroit, SF, GB and Philly are all more talented. Chicago and Washington have hit on rookie QB's. And they all have better GM's that are willing to play in FA.

I so want Vrabel as our next head coach.
He would be a great hire IMO, he's tough and McClay would do a good job at drafting players that fit his system. The problem for any HC as I see it is Jerry. For Vrabel to get up and running, the club would need to be aggressive in FA and through trades to bring in the bigger, more physical players he prefers. And that just ain't going to happen

This week has shown the incompetency of GM Jerrah. Many of us said it and saw it, but it was time to move on from Dak or let him prove it. Same with Lamb. We had him for two more years plus probably another for the franchise tag. He did not address the running game or stopping the run outside of hiring a retread coach and a slow middle linebacker. Further, he losses it today saying he has great players. lol. Armstrong and Fowler have more sacks than Lawrence and Parsons this year and many first year players are better than Dak. Further, Derrick Henry who wanted to be here is killing it. Death by Jerrah. He can’t stand the heat. Have to boycott the boys and not do to their games or buy their merchandise. Nothing impacts the most incompetent GM in all of sports the last 28 years that making him lose money. The only happy thought I had Sunday was I am glad this is happening on his Birthday. Once someone is over 75 years old, they probably have no business running the most valuable franchise in all of sports. Just own it and enjoy. Don’t burn it to the ground. Lifelong Cowboys fans are starting to have apathy.

Heck of a guy too. His son played baseball vs my son in college while he was with the Titans. Between games he brought his own grill and fed both teams. Shook everyones hand. Talked to everyone. That was right after the AJ Brown trade to Philly. His son wAs a good player too. Taylor Lewan had tatted him up pretty good. I dont think Coach Mike liked that too much.

This does not surprise me. These fools should have kept him through that off-season and traded him during the season.

Really shows the total incompetence of the Jones's. Any other team would not given him away like that.

Possibly not. They are headed towards getting a top 10 pick. They may find difference makers

That is all about salary. Cooper's base salary this year is like $1M. When we unloaded him it was $20M

If it was about money, they probably should have kept him, because we haven't had a legit #2 WR since he has been gone. Second part of that is, if his salary this year is $1M, why weren't the Cowboys at the front of the line trying to get him back? Jerry doesn't seem to understand that Dak is not Patrick Mahomes and is not going to play forever. Dak is not elevate others guy. He needs a lot of weapons. And this 4 years, 31-35 year old Dak, is a window that they should have gone and signed Derrick Henry. They should have been in on Cooper. Hell, they should have been in on Davante Adams. A 2nd would have done it. Luke Schoonmaker was 2nd. Load up, push money back, try and win a Super Bowl in Dak's prime, and when the dead money comes due, suffer through a 4-13 season and have Will McClay try and hit on a top 5 QB.

With this team I'm not giving up a 3rd round pick to rent a 30 year old Cooper or a 2nd for a 32 year old Adams. Adams salary next year is $35M and Cooper will be a free agent and get at least the $20M he is paid on his current contract

I'm sure the teams that signed them don't intend to pay that either. At least not on Cooper's case. The point is, signing guys like Henry, renting a player for a year or two, those are things you do in the Cowboys flawed business model. I think that's the problem. Trying to fix this mess is something that now has to be done in a window
The real time to have gone for it would have been on Dak's rookie deal. They missed the chance to win one there. They missed the chance during his 2nd deal. This 4 years is their last shot with him, and trying to fill all the holes this roster has through nothing but the draft and scrap heap FA has us regressing, not improving. They don't have to trade premium picks, but they certainly need to be aggressive in rentals and FA. Because if they think that when Dak is 36, that window will be slammed shut

Agree, but the difference is those two teams are going for a SB win this year so the trades are worth it. For us that's a pipe dream

Troy has thoughts...

Former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman on @dfwticket on Dallas' wide receivers:

"I think the routes are terrible. I think they run terrible routes. And I've thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it's hard to play the position. That's what I see. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get the football on that play, but if they're not, they don't. And it all ties together. I'm not impressed with that part of it.

"I just finished watching the Baltimore Ravens because I have them this week. You put on film of theirs and watch their receivers run routes and they come off the football, so does San Francisco's and Green Bay's and others. But it's hard to play the (QB) position if you're not certain how guys are going to run routes or where they're going to be. And I'm not speaking for Dak (Prescott). Dak may say, 'Hey, I think (their routes) are amazing.' But as a former quarterback watching it, it's gotta get a lot better."

That's 100% right. The problem for any of us bringing up ideas to help this team, it's having to do so after Jerry has already screwed up Dak's deal by paying him late again, and skipping FA all together. I know one thing, if that's going to be their business model going forward, just draft and develop plus scrap heap to fill holes, there is a zero percent chance this team wins a ring. In truth, with Washington and Chicago both hitting on their QB's, it may be hard to argue them even making the playoffs going forward

Troy has thoughts...

Former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman on @dfwticket on Dallas' wide receivers:
That's pretty damning. I watch podcasts from guys who aren't "football guys" like Jerry, that break down the All-22 videos and just rip the shit out of the Cowboys route scheme. They say it's like a HS concept. 4 guys run down field and turn around. Pitiful. Brandon Cooks has had 1000 yards for everyone he played for...scrub here. Noah goes to the Texans and plays great. Did he have a better QB? Or did he just run real routes? I look at the stuff GB, SF, NO and the Rams run and we look nothing like that. But Jerry has this
