Don't forget KC also over threw a open Crowder in the first half which was TD plus the INT thats 14 pts right there. We have multiple problems.

Does anyone still think KC is the QB of the future for this team and that we need to sign him to a top QB deal?

I didn't watch the game and I am not sure we can make that call until at least half way through the season. Its one game but it appears that the running game and DLine were not addressed like we all pointed out in the offseason.

That call should have been made months ago. The team has bet against him and for all intents he wont get resigned no matter how this season plays out.

So honestly I dont think it matters either way. He had a bad game, I still think he is better for the team than the alternatives. But that choice has already been made. This is Cousins last season in Washington period.

What about the running game and DLine?

They are still substandard. But we are paying the QB $24M so he is supposed to be able to make up for those... or so say the masses.

So you think it was a preparation issue not a personnel or lack of talent issue? I didn't see the game but I was hoping we would have done a better job addressing the NT and LG spot this offseason. It seems like neither of those positions led to the loss???
I think that it is both. I'm very concerned about our OL. Our left side is getting old and it showed today. Then we got Moses on the right. Nuff said. Also, very underwhelmed with what I saw from Pryor and didn't see from Doctson. KC did not play well although he had someone in his face most of the game.

Most upsetting for me is just the general lack of preparation. Once again this team was not ready.

You have a good QB, but do you have at RB and WR?

I think KC has the ability to be our QB for the future. But he has got to overcome this propensity to throw off his back foot when pressured up the middle. It almost always leads to a bad play. Im also going to give the guy a few more games before I anoint or bash him.

This is the order of blame.

Coaching on the offensive side was inexcusable. There is no way an OL as good as ours was last season, should have sucked like it did today.

OL was atrocious.
That killed any possibility of a runnng game. Run game sucked.
That killed any chance of our QB being successful. QB sucked.

Defense played well.

I thought the defense played OK overall and really well at times. And after some pondering. Maybe tackling wasn't the issue I thought it was. As Wetnz faked, okee doked, n B button 180 spun his way out of a handful of sacks today. Wentz's skill at avoiding sacks was both impressive and frustrating. For as nimble, elusive or quick triggered as a QBs like Brady or Kirk can be in the pocket. When the OL is gettin flat-out beat on a fairly consistent basis. Kirk's or Brady's skill-sets at avoiding sacks can take a big hit. Whereas Wetnz's skillset at avoiding sacks becomes even more impressive. He's got quick feet, nice reactions, enough speed to roll out of trouble and a killer spin move. Plus he's one of those Big Be/Andrew Luck types. Every bit of 235/240 pounds and strong enough to break or shuck off LBs and DLs especially if he can acquire some leverage by them shift direction and body weight.

The run defense literally looked transformed today. Philly had 24 carries for 58 yards, 2.4 avg, 0 TD rushes and a long run of 7 yards. Those 24 carries didn't do a lot or gain the Eagles a lotta yards. I'm not even sure the Philly run game contributed to anything of significance except perhaps help keep the Skins honest and perhaps keep the Eagles on schedule far as pass/run ratio.

The pass coverage looked good when the secondary was was playing more aggressive coverages. Too many times on 3rd dn I thought we got too vanilla. Rush 4, drop 7 in a soft zone which led to giving up 9 yd comp on 3rd n 7. I'd like to see the dogs let loose more often. The Eagles were 8/14 57% on 3nd dn conversions That's unacceptable. At least 2 INTs were dropped by Skins DBs (Norman and BB) and cost us at least 7 points. They did come up with 2 nice TOs, especially RK's pick 6, but Philly's defense was up to the challenge coming up with 4 TOs and a defensive TD themselves.

My rememberance of the game is they completed a lot of passes in the middle of the field. Safeties and ILB area.

The fact that Cousins' agent wants him to be the top paid QB in the league is mind boggling. It doesn't appear to be all of his fault but he is not a top QB in this league.

I also don't think Fat Rob is the answer and I think the coaching staff needs to come to this realization. If Perine isn't the answer than a top draft pick in 2018 will have to be. This team has got to start running the ball with some sort of success.

I just don't get this organization. We build mostly through free agency...it doesn't work. We build mostly through the draft....it doesn't work. We re-build our front office...it doesn't work. I am about out of ideas here.

Maybe we're shopping in the wrong places for players. Might I suggest our penal system for big guys that line up and ask the guy in front of him....."What the fuk are you looking at?":D

I think he should have been the QB for this team and he should have been signed a top deal.

The defense was fine today. I would say they were good.

I gave the game some thought before posting (have not posted today purposely) and there is plenty of blame to go around in today's loss. No since in saying the offense didn't do this or that, ST sucked as well, the defense while good at times, couldn't bring down Wentz on perfectly timed Manusky blitzes... never mind, we could go on and on and on.

Disappointed we didn't see Doctson more and Perine. If we are going to suck this year, I want to see the young guys play and develop with experience. We are what we are for now under this regime so lets make the best of it and hope the young guys will provide better play with each passing week.

Ironically enough, the Rams looked pretty good today. Nice job McVay!!!

HTTR! :noidea:

As already mentioned bad, predictable coaching. some fluke plays going against them too.
Pryor is STILL being used wrong, this guy is not ready for some of the routes he is asked to run.
Way too much to do from his release, route, timing and then looking up and hoping the ball is there -- much more simple in cleveland and perhaps Gruden should remember this kid is not AJ Green.
The defense was great, but if the offense looks like this again week 2, then I will panic.
...IMO Cousins is done here whether he has an Elite, Top 5 ranking or totally flops.
