Is there anyway he doesn't sign this? It's a tad under the $20 mil per on average we all heard he was seeking, but I'm sure the guaranteed money is stupid good. $114.5 mil/6 years are the terms I'm seeing.

Damn.

Guaranteed money is not even close to Houston or Suh. $39MM for the first two years. Denver does not like to guarantee the 3rd year. This could be a sticking point. Houston was close to $52MM in guarantees. Still have 5 weeks to work things out.

I was told he turned it down. Looking for more of 22 million a year.

Oliver Vernon got 17 million, he really upped our price on Von.

I mean I'd be thrilled with that money, but when you're Von Miller and you just ended the season the way he did he's gonna try and get every penny apparently.

Weird. Right at end of Rich Eisen show they said Von and Denver reached a deal and it was for 6 yrs, 114 million and 20 mil guaranteed this yr and again next year ( don't remember total guaranteed money ), making him highest paid Defense player. Then I jump on my kindle,Don't see any reaction from you guys , then few minutes ago I turn to nflnetwork ( training camp special going on ) and they go live to Denver and their saying just a proposal and nothing more at this time. RE show mis spoke I guess.

Sounds like the hang up is the guaranteed money side of it. Miller's side wants the 3rd year fully guaranteed instead of just for injury where the Broncos don't want to get past year 2 on the guaranteed side of things. Wouldn't surprise me if the top money is about where Miller thinks it will be but just now getting the guaranteed language down. I am actually surprised by the money a bit and think they are pretty darn close.

Going to see a lot of this over the next couple of weeks is my guess. Lots of information coming out and hard to know what all to believe. IF you believe PFT (probably the worst Football site on the internet) after Von said no to the deal the Broncos then completely took the offer off the table and are done negotiating for a while. Everyone else says Von said no but the team is still negotiating and just reevaluating. Usually means a counter offer was made and now the Broncos are taking some time to see if they will agree to the counter offer or come back with another of their own. Yes they wanted to get a deal done before Mini-Camp opened. It was a deadline they had set but it means very little compared to July 15th. My guess though is this deal gets done quicker than the deadline. Both sides are being much more respectful to one another than that of DT and his agent last year. At least the two sides are communicating on a more regular basis from the sounds of it with Von.

Broncos pulled their offer saying that Von Miller rejected it. Everyone knows that they've agreed to the long term elements but it's the guaranteed money that's off. Originally, by pulling their offer (10:00 pm deadline last night) the Broncos are saying that Von will have to play under the 14mm franchise tender but they softened their language today. They're now saying that they will re-assess the situation, which means they're still interested in getting a deal done big time. Elway is reported to not want to wait until the July 15 deadline.

This deals always get done at the last minute - because the Agent thinks that's when the best deal is going to be offered.

If I'm Miller and Denver doesn't up the guatenteed money I think about sitting out the season
At $14 MM too big a risk for injury vs the open market in '17
since next year they can't exclusive franchise Miller
A 1st and 3rd is peanuts for Miller plus it won't do Denver any good if it's a late 1st
Denver has no franchise QB , 3 players that took discounts so time
To pay the player who is your franchise

We're trying to get cute and are going to end up playing ourselves. Pay the dude, ridiculous. This team is in a transition right now, the last thing you want to do is mess with the cornerstone

So here is Justin Houston

6 yr(s) / $101,000,000
SIGNING BONUS$20,500,000
AVERAGE SALARY$16,833,333
GUARANTEED:$52,500,000
FREE AGENT:2021 / UFA
  • $32.5 million initially guaranteed
Von 6 years $114MM with $39 MM initially guaranteed.

I think Miller's agent is using Suh's contract and Denver is using Watts;, Houston and Vernon's contract.

Miami has already Restructure Suh's contaract in 2016 because they needed more cash on hand.

Reviewing the contract it does look pretty good on Denver's part.

I hope both can come together.

Rumor of Miller sitting out the season if he doesn't get the deal he wants.

Yeah, we always hear that rumor of a player who is tagged. He aint sitting out.

Just another of the negotiating tactics that agents try to use to force a team's hands. I"m hoping Miller is listening to the advice that DT gave him of understanding a deal will get done and just to trust his agent and trust Elway that they will get this worked out. These giant deals rarely have the two sides starting out close and take quite a few back and forths to get worked out.

Still can't believe the league uses those these days. For being a multi-Billion dollar industry they sure have some archaic ways about them.

Honestly I think it gets done before we get close to the deadline. WE have the framework of the deal done just now deciding between 2-years guaranteed or 3-years. Broncos will eventually cave on that issue or at least give enough to show Von they won't cut him after 2-years because the dead money hit in year 3 would be too big. Heck they did that with DT making it to where year 3 they still can't cut him. Heck even year 4 is not an easy thing. So I'm sure they will do the same with Von.
