They were definitely before your time.
Then why did the team almost move from lack of support and interest? They were definitely before your time.
Patriots pre-Belichick were notoriously bad - but not all the time.
There was some really good football to watch back then!
That was a political move that never happened because it was never meant to happen. Then why did the team almost move from lack of support and interest?
Mosi Tatupu!!They were definitely before your time.

the two Patriots I always think of from back in those days are Russ Francis & John Hannah. How old is @fightinfunbags ? Think he remembers them?

True trueThis season he was on paper as the 4th or 5th highest QB salary and yet he was hands down the best at his position. So you can argue as @PDay8810 did that “bargain” already applies.
Bledsoe days were pretty good. Then stepped in Brady. Lucky bastardsThey were definitely before your time.

The difference was Kraft becoming the owner. They got aggressive and went for Parcells. I think you’re local to Philly so I’ll use this analogy. The Phillies didn’t win with Thome but with his signing and the new ball park, ownership finally signaled that they were serious about competing and winning. Pre Kraft you’re talking about one of the more unsuccessful franchises in the NFL from both a competitive stand point and fan support.Bledsoe days were pretty good. Then stepped in Brady. I mostly agree but think about what it was like before the rookie salary cap.unfortunately correct.
QB contracts are absurd.
Nothing for this post iggloo?Thanks...You are correct, both could marry our daughters. Stand up guys. Great Team Leaders!!
The RB "jokes" were very consistent for about three years. I think you were poking the stick; the same one you don't like poked your way. Always good to be the decider in all that back & forth stuff. Seems to be a common denominator among SportsHoopla eagle fans this season.
Dak's season last year was surprising based on 2021. (11-5 with 37-10) No?
Dak was bad last year in key moments...not the same QB with regards to risk throws.
LOL at telling me the Davis Mills part as if I don't follow football. You know what, Dak threw all those picks throwing 100 and even 200 less passes from previous years. This is better than the David Mills comparison. You should remember attempts next time you're trolling the point. Much Funnier.
SO...is the football guy saying Dak is washed or the eagle football fan?
You say Dak last year's int rate becomes the norm even with 5 seasons of less than 2% interception rate?
LOL...we shall see. Hurts always getting better from Jr. High on seems a tad pep squad to me. Maybe just maybe Dallas fans aren't the only obnoxious fans posting here.
Hey, look who came out of his Tranq, zombie rabbit hole. I see your cocky and irrational thoughts are still going strong. Some never learn...He's the 2nd best QB in the elsgue at worst, only 24 years old and the price of QB contracts will just keep going up.
Sit back and watch how a smart franchise does it. They can lock in Hurts at $50M a year and the price will go up to around $60M a year within the next 1-2 years.
But, that's not even on the table right now. He is under contract for next year and then can be tagged. I absolutely would not pay Hurts or any guy that contract after one good year. With that OL I think you can get similar results from a win/loss perspective from a guy who is a much better passer and just mobile enough to still run some of that offense. If he does it again, sure, but the risk outweighs the reward at his particular point in time IMO. Let's say he has another good year and it ends up costing you an additional $5M per by waiting. No big deal. I take that over realizing you went all in too quickly. So if you were the Eagles you would move on from Jalen Hurts?
Franchise tags are for bad franchises. It’s already an L if an organization needs to turn to that tool. The benefit to getting it done now is that there is the threat of QBs who are less than Hurts getting paid and throwing the pay scale out of whack even further. If I’m Jalen Hurts, I don’t even play on the last year of my deal without a contract renegotiation. You also have to worry about the idea of a hold out. It’s clear that Jalen Hurts is the Eagles franchise QB. Once that is assessed it’s always in the team’s best interest to get that deal done on the levels I’ve already expressed plus it’s better to take this big contract and move it from the unknown to the known column in terms of cap planning. Your objections are valid but they aren’t mitigated by waiting. That’s better done with the way the deal is structured so that if it’s say a 5-6 year deal that the 3rd or 4th year comes with an out similar to the deal they signed Wentz to where there is little to no dead cap hit to get away from the contract. But, that's not even on the table right now. I just don't see it as a smart move at all. Maybe you pay $25M more over 5 years by waiting, but not really because $55M in 2024 may be somewhat equal to $50M in 2023 with cap increases and the time to prepare for the contract. The alternative is you may have given a $300M contract out that you regret and are unable to move on from. Just a risk/reward thing for a guy who had a really good year but may not be a really good QB. Even more highlighted when it is on a team that could still be successful with a lesser QB. I suspect we saw his best year ever in 2022 and I'm not so sure he will be seen as a strength of the team over the next few years.Franchise tags are for bad franchises. I think what’s clouding your perspective is your desire to think that Hurts is a one year wonder when every indicator says otherwise. At no point in his development has he regressed. He has been on a steady arc of improvement. He’s an exceptional leader of men and that has been shown in every stop he has made. The only area in which I can grant your argument is the possibility of injury. Hurts doesn’t have much of an injury history and in theory every contract could become a mistake based on some injury that’s unforeseen. That’s not a reason to move forward with the certainty of cap planning. Regardless of what extension Hurts signs the Eagles have the option of a low contract on the cap in 2023 being used to judiciously spread the cap and signing bonus over years to mitigate the number he costs vs the cap every year. You have more cap flexibility the sooner you can get the deal inked. The sooner the deal gets inked the more flexibility you have in playing the Tom Brady renegotiation game where a player takes more guaranteed money in exchange for a reset and finagling of the cap.I just don't see it as a smart move at all.
