Lebron is going back to #23

So how many of you burned his jersey? Come on, confess!

Good Find! Shame...Those jerseys could have been given to folks in need in Cleveland. Makes one laugh a little and see how things can change over the years.

We already knew it was bullshit when Lebron said he changed his number to 6 out of respect to Jordan to not wear 23.

All he had to say was, that its a new team and a fresh start so he wanted a new number. Nobody would have a problem with that. But no, he gives us that lame Jordan story.

Good marketing though. Get everyone to spend $99 on a jersey, piss off the entire state of Ohio, get them to burn your jersey, and then when you make your miraculous "comeback", those same gullible fools will spend another $99.

And lebron gets a neat little percentage of every jersey sold!

This time he can just say 'the fans wanted me to wear 23' to avoid contradiction. As if he didn't know that 23 would get chosen.

Isn't that what Kobe fans did when he switched numbers?

Pretty much. No one is saying that it wasn't a smart business decision, just that the reason he gave was lame. If memory serves, he even went as far as to say the league should just retire it.

I don't care how often he changes his number, if I were in his or Kobe's position, I'd probably change my number every 2-3 years.

A smart business decision would have been to choose something different than #23. That way those who already have 23 would want to by the other number.

Regardless of what number he chose though, people would still find a reason to bitch and moan about it.

Chicago already had MJ's number retired at the time. He wore 45 for the final 22 games of the season and playoffs. Then switched back to 23 for the following season.

A little different than Kobe's situation.

MJ had the option back then. Any player can chose to have their number taken out of retirement. He just decided to take #45 because that's the number he originally wanted when he came into the league.

According to him (and I believe him) he went back to #23 because Cleveland fans wanted it. No issue with that. In fact, I think it's great that he included them.

But, you have to admit, the whole "no one should wear that number, that's why I'm changing it" was pretty lame. If he truly believed that, #23 wouldn't have been an option.

People bitch about the stupid things Lebron says because he keeps saying stupid things. So of course people are going to talk about it.
