Should the Jags be automatically eliminated from playoff contention because Lawrence got hurt?

I still like the idea of striking any sub-500 team from the playoffs and replacing them with a wild card team over 500. But, the rules to do that must be made before the season starts.

Notes: The Jags are currently at 8-4, same as KC. Would you eliminate them, too? How about the whole NFC South, where the division-leading Falcons are only at 6-6, struggling to be 500? Some people thought the Jets could be a playoff team until the fourth play from scrimmage by Rodgers and the old man's medical report. Jets should be dropped too, right?

What's so special about 9 games?

if the goal is to objectively identify the best teams the more games they play against other P5 teams is relevant

We gain absolutely nothing from Prarie View

I'm likely in the minority but I disagree. Winning your division to get to the playoffs where anything can happen should be the number one goal of the regular season.

I feel like it's the only way to go

I know they're in a good spot to make it right now but i think we can all agree that they aren't a good as the Texans or the Colts without Lawrence

I mean they lost to the Bengals backup QB at home. That's bad

Exactly!! I mean the Steelers are one of the greatest franchises on NFL history with a great HC. Sure they lost to the Jags this year but that was early in the season so it really doesnt count plus it was with Lawrence who is out now

I think we can all agree if they played again today the Steelers would beat them

No one wants to see the Jags sneak in as the 7 seed only to lose by 40 to Baltimore

Let's be honest

Two different things.

Can Lawrence return from a High ankle sprain?

Can Travis return this year from a broken leg?

Just require ALL to be P5.

Hasn't much bothered me because those small schools get a free national stage and pick up more money in 1 game than their entire budgets in some cases.

I don't begrudge the poor like some.

And,occasionally one beats the crap out of Auburn. Another bonus

If the eye test tells me so.

the poor Def can't compete in the NIL era. like my guy Dequan Finn leaving Toledo... and I don't blame him the least. It's over for G5 competing with P5. it was a sham anyway.

Always been a sham.

If they can somehow get similar TV money, they need create a sub division. Honestly don’t know why the money would drop for a conference like the MAC. They’d have the same amount of talent on display, but with championship possibilities beyond the Conference.

Finn could be the starter for most BIG teams next year. There are holes and he’s damn good. Was awesome in HS. Well, more like exceptional.

Sorry to hear he’s hitting FreeAgency, but we both get it. He’ll be changing his financial stars, while still a student

it is what it is. Obviously I love my Alma mater and want them to do well but understand their lot in life with sports.

Like I said on the other board I'd be more excited with a second tier of football comprised of G5s and high end FCS schools and have a playoff and champ at that level than what the current setup is.

Toledo will never compete on an even remotely close level to the Michigan and OSU'S. And yea maybe they get a random Pitt or Michigan upset but who really cares

I think maybe I should put a few sheckles on the Baltimore Ravens asap. Burrows is out. DeShaun is out, Pickett is out, T-Law is out for at least a few weeks, Miami lost their best defensive player for the year, and KC is looking beatable at the present moment. Stars seem to be aligning in B-more.

There was hope for beating some of the big guys every once in a while when you could find some “diamond in the rough” recruits and build up a team around them. The transfer portal has now killed all that.

NIL gives the big revenue producing schools the money to buy the top athletes, and the portal lets them move freely. It’s time to separate the top money producing teams from the middle and lower ones. You could almost literally just make a league comprised of two conferences (B10 and SEC).
