Yeah Tampa is not going to try to trade him until he is in his contract year.

Two guys the Dodgers should inquire about are Middlebrooks and Freese. Both younger upgrades over Uribe.

Having said that......Juan Uribe has finally been a contributor this season.

:doh:No twice. Sure up Kershaw forever, extend Hanley, bring up Guerrero for a shot, find another starter for the rotation. Look for a future 3rd baseman. Cap needs to go now and not just next year. We can dominate for years if the Dodgers are smart.

We would have Seager by 2015 so why not just give uribe a 1 year incentive laden contract until Seager is ready?

My only problem with Uribe is that his been injured alot since being a Dodger..his been real solid this year i wonder if he can do it again next year but i'm thinking we might go in another direction will wait & see

Fair enough Lalakersboy. If we did resign him I wouldnt want more than a 1 or 2 year incentive laden contract.

Uribe......one year with incentives.......is the only way to go.

Dodgers may also revisit the Padres about Headley.

If the Padres were to trade Headley in division they would want a lot and Headley has had a bad year so it may not be worth doing that.

La I agree with you about Headley. Uribe has been better this year and if Headley didnt work out and we gave up good prospects it would be a disaster.

I think the Dodgers will still inquire about Headley. He's been struggling this year, imo, due to injury. He has been a terrific hitter throughout his career in Dodger Stadium.

The downside is who the Dodgers would have to give up, as you all mention, but the Dodgers will inquire.

Middlebrooks or Freese would be younger, upgrades over Uribe. I expect the Dodgers to ask about them as well.

Whatever happens........I believe the Dodgers need to upgrade 3B. I'm pretty sure it will be a position they look to upgrade during the off-season.

I would rather go after Freeze than Headley.

The Dodgers have doled out hundreds of millions of dollars in player acquisition costs and salary, but their primary focus this winter will be on re-signing Clayton Kershaw to what is expected to be the largest contract ever given to any pitcher. So for the first time, the bottomless pit of money may not be so bottomless for the Dodgers, and sources say the team has no current plans to pursue Cano.

I agree about Uribe. He's been slightly above replacement level and I have no complaints this season. He definitely rebounded well from last year. The thing with Uribe is that I just don't see him as a regular. He is best used in a utility role as far as I'm concerned.

Middlebrooks.... Sure the Dodgers should ask, but I expect the price to be too high for him. I don't think the Dodgers should be so desperate to add a 3B that they give up several prospects. It's just not worth the price - he might be an upgrade but not by so huge of a margin to prompt emptying the farm. He's only 24 and under team control for a few more years. The Red Sox will want a ton for him.

We would have Seager by 2015 so why not just give uribe a 1 year incentive laden contract until Seager is ready?

2015 if he's ready at age 21... That would be phenomenal. However, he's still a shortstop. My answer in that situation is to move Hanley to 3B and keep Seager at short.

Headly has only had 1 break out year wich was last year other then that his stats for his career are avg....i would not trade for him & give up any big prospects his turning 30 next may...nah not worth it

Yeah the Padres really swing and miss at their opportunity to sell high on Headley. His value has dropped significantly, but he's still a switch hitting 3B with power and defense so if the Dodgers can get him for a steal, I'm for it.

I would rather go after Freeze than Headley.

I don't know. Headley has more pop and he's a switch hitter. Freese is going to be 31 next year so maybe the Dodgers could get him for a better deal than an intradivision deal for Headley so that might be the tipping point.

Headley is definitely a better baseball player than Freese. But yea... that asking price is awful.

Dodgers have lots of $$$, and they've shown their not afraid to spend it. I can see them being players for Cano, and probably in the top 3 or 4 for his services. 2nd base is also one of their weak spots.

I wouldn't call 2nd base "weak" but I understand what you're saying. Mark Ellis has actually been one of the better 2nd basemen since the all-star break.

As a Dodger fan in St Louis (and one works in the same building as the Cards radio network) I can tell you that even though he is a local boy, the fans are done with Freese and it is sad cuz dude can play.

I think we can each solve each other problems simply: Freese for Gordon and a minor league OF not name Joc Pederson.
