Funnily enough, mentioning Lundqvist and the Rangers actually kinda proves the point here - how many first round picks and prospects have the Rangers moved in the past 4 years to try and win now while they have one of the best goalies ever on their team? Has it worked ultimately? No, but you can't name many teams that have been more competitive than the Rangers this decade. Isles have barely even tried doing that for JT.

At some point, a team has to say "dammit, lets go for the Cup. Now. This Year". That is the point in time when a team decides to move from "rebuilding" to "contending". As others have so eloquently put it, NYR have taken steps to try and win now. Other teams do not. NYI seems to be stuck more in the "building" phase then the "go for it" phase.

Is 16-17 the right year for NYI to "go for it". I honestly don't know. But if they want to maximize JT's value as a player, they should do it soon.

/ok I just repeated everything previously posted.

The difference is they have the assets and tools required to jump from building to contend but they just sit on their hands and, I dunno, hope the rest of the league gets Spanish Flu?

Shit or get off the pot.

Seattle won have won in 1919, but alas the series was cancelled due to the flu pandemic.

Maybe more recently they have been trying, Idk if i'd say they tried for most of his career. I'm not too sure of many moves they have made to improve the time, outside of the last 2-3 seasons.

You forget the awesome move of Erat for Forsberg :gaah:

I was going to say "p_$$" but yeah, exactly. Grow some and go for it. But you might want to find a non-sieve goalie

Isles will go through some weird changes this offseason. I think Okposo goes, Nielsen stays and Hamonic goes to EDM for one of their forwards to provide JT some help.

I also think Halak is traded and we are rolling with Greiss and Berube next season.

Right now I just want them to keep digging out of this slump they are in, score some goals and get out of the first round. If they dont, hopefully Capuano and his stupid JC Penny suits get canned.

Islanders are actually 3rd in the NHL in SV% this year.

A quick look and I dont have ENG info, but they are like 8th just ahead of CHI and NJD in goals against per game.

If I were a NYI fan, I would be thanking BGDave for bestowing "The Curse of the Sieve", did wonders for Holtby :D

I don't have a problem with what Snow has done to build the Isles. He tried to jumpstart the team with the Vanek trade & it didn't work. He acquired Boychuk, Leddy & Clutterbuck in trades. Whether or not they contend for the cup this year remains to be seen, but it's not like they haven't tried to improve the roster. If Tavares wants to leave so be it. Right now I doubt that's the case.
