Didn't quite see that coming but it's not a complete surprise.

I would have thought Ryan Kelly would get cut though

Kelly is showing some good signs but could benefit from some more time in the D-League when guys come back from injury.

Alex Kennedy is reporting this move may pave the way for Turkoglu.

That is a bit of surprise but to replace him with Turkoglu is idiotic.

I just heard it on ESPN 710LA radio, Shawne Williams was nothing but a dud. :agree: Retroram52 it would be nothing, but stupidity bringing in Turkey boy.

Williams was ok for this team but certainly wouldn't feature on a championship team. I think too many people were expecting another Earl Clark.

I hope Ryan Kelly gets a lot more minutes. I want to see what he can do.

That is why they dumped Williams because Kelly is coming on and playing more minutes. The next guy to go will be Kaman.

It's a disgrace what D'Antoni did/does to Kaman.

the guy's skilled. plays ok face up, good rebounder, finishes with either hand, ok passer. only thing he doesn't do all that well is run the floor imo, though he certainly will hustle if he needs to...

so i agree, i have no idea why D'Antoni has something against the guy...

Ive been saying it Dumbtoni is a fucken dick, and it's not he 1st time he does this to players & makes it so obvious. IMO if the Lakers want to get some key FA in the next 2 seasons, we need a coach who is more of a leader & preaches defense & demands & gives respect.

Nobody is going to want to come & play for this tool. FUCK DUMBTONI!!! :finger:

I still think with a healthy team D'antonis system could work quite well. Problem is he's not adaptable to different circumstances throughout the season and that's what's killing us.

Necessary move. Cutting him is likely part of trimming down salaries to get under the luxury tax since the Gasol/Bynum thing didn't work out. Cutting Williams alone won't do it so expect more moves. I'd wouldn't be shocked if they don't try to unload Blake and/or Kaman for 2nd round picks. Getting rid of Williams hurts nothing basketball wise too. He's a career borderline NBA player so it's not like he's going to magically turn into anything special. That's why you keep Kelly. He's young enough to where he might.

A lot of guys on this team are pretty much gone by the summer. Just hope they can keep hold of Young, X, Hill and Farmar. With Kobe and Sacre already guaranteed, they just have to get some great players around them.

Starting to get mildly interested in Marshall too. 32 assists in his first two starts? DAMN!!!!

I liked Williams effort, but it just wasn't producing the necessary results. I agree with those who think Kelly should get more minutes. It's time to see if he can develop into good stretch 4.

You understand that it's not D'Antoni who sets the roster, right?

I get it. But it's the front office building around the coach that causes problems. Steve Nash being the prime example.

True. I agree with what they tried to do last year, it just didn't work. Fortunately, no one on this team is locked up to any long term deals, so the Lakers can still re-make the roster over the next couple of seasons.

In that regard, the front office has done well. Lakers need to get healthy so they can see what they've got and what they need.
