justine was #1 when she retired. no idea what you are talking about.

attention is just more important to serena. she can't change her game. she's one dimensional.

Yes she was no 1 when she retired because Henin played more tennis than Serena at the time and racked points. Are we talking about the second time she retired in 2011 after Serena has shellacked her in the 2010 Australian open? She never recovered.

Remember Serena because of her race and her attitude has been under constant attack through out her tennis life. Compare her to Jennifer Capriati who despite drug use and numerous infractions with the law never got half the acrimony Serena got. She discredited Sharapova by promising herself to beat her continuously.
she claimed she was injured and not mentally there against sharapova, although sharapova played an outstanding match. and sharapova beat her the next the time they played.

capriati got plenty of criticism for her drug abuse.

From who? Rather people were sympathetic and lamented it might affect this child prodigy.

she was #1 because she won 2 slams, and beat serena in 3 of them.

in the 20011 ao serena won in 3 sets. hardly a shellacking against a player who hadn't played for a year.

The last time Henin beat Serena was in 2007 if I could remember. Serena beat her in 2008 and 2010. Everybody knows that the beating by Serena was what drove her into retirement.

from everyone. she hurt herself more than anyone else.

The reaction to her was mild compared if it were Serena who has been clean and never got into trouble. Imagine if Serena had been caught stealing!

why would losing 3 a set match after being retired for a year drive her into retirement?

they were both around 26 years old in 2007, and we know who dominated who.

At least the myth of Serena not always being gracious in defeat. Well, check this.
"The moment Williams, who had beaten older sister Venus in the 2002 and 2003 finals, mishit a forehand return into the net to hand the Siberia-born Sharapova a 6-1 6-4 victory, the new champion sank disbelievingly to her knees, burying her face in her hands. As she rose to her feet, Williams, wonderfully gracious in defeat, came around the net to embrace her." Culled from Sensational Sharapova is a Russian revelation

Now there you go. Will you and others stop the nonsense?

right, blaming the ref is being very gracious in defeat.....for her.

Not what I said.

I said aside from being pissed at the dickhead ref, she was very GRACIOUS TOWARDS OSAKA.

And he is an insecure little Frenchman who would not have done similar to any male.

And of course you will now tell me I'm wrong......

And how many times had Serena not been injured and come back? She actually beat her in the last two meets that sent a signal to Henin that the end was near and retired!

That's not the story Serena's detractors wanted to see or hear.

That's not the point. The umpire should have done what she had done in many occasions where she used the discretion. In any passionate game she knows players have reacted in different emotional way at championship. He failed the sport.
The "HE" being Serena, I agree.
