I have not heard of any player who have spoken on this who have not sided with Serena; Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Chris Evert,Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King etc. The only player who agrees with you Mary Carillo who wanted Serena jailed at the previous USO because she claimed Serena threatened the lineswoman which video showed she never did.
But Roger has dominated before and you didn't claim the sorry state of men's tennis. Players have dominated before. That is a fact and has nothing to do with whether they were overweight or not. Serena has always been a little heavier than for example her sister Venus. That's the way she has been. To claim otherwise is to lose objectivity regarding how great this woman, Serena is, and your assertion is explained by something more than tennis.
People who have been on this forum know exactly what I am talking about considering the outrageous racist epithets you have spewed on this forum. Do you wan me to retrieve themany racist drivel you have bandied about regarding Serena?
J.K. Rowling, others blast "racist" Serena Williams newspaper cartoon - CBS News
I've heard men players say much worse thing and nothing be done.
Serena dominated in a weak era. She was actually aided by her opponents to dominated as they cowered before her physical intimidation factor. There are quite a few complaints (or fears) for the state of men's tennis due to the domination of the few. There actually were some when Federer dominated all. Perhaps not as explicit as under Serena (and Venus) but still. But then again, even Fereder at his best was not as dominant as Serena.
Great group of posts Dutch. Not with this ump.
What you are refusing to get is that I quoted Martina because Martina also said Carlos was wrong in not first issuing a soft warning because it exacerbated the whole thing.Martina diretly spoke out against Serena in a NYT piece. Serena's threat is actually proven (hence the massive fine, highest ever in tennis).
Within the US and Serena (and extremist feminists) - aided by massive ignorance and obtusesness by the media and crowd in the immediate aftermath - that any male disagreeing with the Serena narrative would commit PR suicide. They have no other choice that to come out in support. No matter how wrong Serena was on this occasion - and she was completely out of line.
Same with the cat suit BS. A man showing up in skin tight cat suit would not have been accepted either. Wear it as a form of underclothing, much like tights and shorts have been worn as such before (also by Serena).
The difference is the depiction of Serena in stereotypical role that has been in use during jim Crow era. But you are not old enough or read much to understand.Note that just two days earlier he made a similar cartoon about Nick Kyrgios (and the action of the ump there), showing his clear disapproval of the ump's and Kyrgios' behaviour.
And to suggest drawing a charicature of Serena is racist means that any charicature of any black woman is by definition racist and sexist.
Actually for some of us who are older and really played and followed tennis we know how great Serena is. Her durability and abilities distinguishes her from all others. There are quite a few complaints (or fears) for the state of men's tennis due to the domination of the few. Except Ramos was the one referee to use this argument against (and is well recorded for enforcing the rules regardless of occasion, gender or status (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray).
In fact, Williams' argument is in many ways BS. Since quite regularly men have been tossed from the tournament for their on-court behaviour.
The one occasion where she had a justified argument was the violation imposed against Cornet (for changing her shirt), which everybody later on admitted was wrong.
Martina Navratilova defends the actions of Ramos, criticizes Miss Ree and thinks the focus should be on player behavior and restraint and I agree with her!

The last time Henin beat Serena was in 2007 if I could remember. Serena beat her in 2008 and 2010. Everybody knows that the beating by Serena was what drove her into retirement.
What you are refusing to get is that I quoted Martina because Martina also said Carlos was wrong in not first issuing a soft warning because it exacerbated the whole thing.
"First, there is some debate over the use of ‘soft warnings’. Many have argued that Ramos could have had a soft word in Williams’ ear, warning her that if Mouratoglou continued to attempt to communicate with her on court then he would have to dish out a code violation. ESPN analyst and former US Open finalist Pam Shriver made that very point: ‘Ramos helped derail a championship match by being rigid beyond normal protocol by not giving first a soft warning for coaching.’ Martina Navratliova suggested that the situation may not have escalated had she been given one. She wrote in her opinion piece in The Washington Post titled ‘What Serena Got Wrong’: ‘It is also common for the umpire to talk to the player first about the coaching — a sort of “soft warning” before the real warning so that the player has a chance to “muzzle” the coach. Had that been done, nothing at all might have followed — but we will never know.’

False
Actually her argument is solid since as I always point out some of us are old enough to have seen it all. I will give you a recent one where Australia versus Argentina and Hewitt's opponent Troiki begun to touch himself. Yes he actually held is crouch and everybody saw it. Carlos Ramos saw the whole thing and started arguing with the tennis player. This went on for more than ten minutes but Carlos did not penalize him but made him aware that he knows. He could have punished him but used his discretion.
In one of Virginia Slims tournaments Martina Navratilova was so incensed with a call that she confronted the umpire with some choice words and threw her racket in the direction of the umpire fortunately it went under the chair but was not punished. Now, I know she can pick on Serena and pontificate like all of you because it is Serena.
The rules are inconsistently applied since Sacha was coaching Naomi all the time but Carlos only saw Serena's coach. It gets ridiculous.
Except that this ump is known for not giving out soft warnings to star players (or any players for that matter). Serena should have known that. End of story.
Huh? The problem with Serena is that based on her physique she actually already complies with many of the stereotypes (hair, bigger lips, big behind, big boobs). Which means that by using your argument you cannot make any cartoon based on Serena. This is deliberately reading way too much into it.
Not every cartoon depicting a black individual is a Jim Crow cartoon.
This is people looking for racism and sexism.... where there is none. Enough other occasions out there where it is warranted (also in tennis).
Some straw-man here? I never disputed Serena's greatness as an athlete. Yet to some extent it also says something about the state of women's tennis.
Oooohhh.... the one example where Ramos should have said something vindicates Serena, even though there are legion of examples where she is clearly wrong.... but only because it is Serena.
