First thing's first.....Semin's a little bitch, but that didn't look like a suspendable play there. That was brutal and definitely a penalty, probably a 5 minute major for roughing/cross checking.

Daniella Briere got in trouble because his was to the face, not to the back of the head. In my humble opinion of course.

A hit to the head is a hit to the head. Both plays were suspension worthy, IMO.

Fair enough. I wouldn't have been upset if Semin got suspended for it. But I'd rather take a cross check to the back of the head then a two handed baseball-esque swing to the face. Neither are/were good though.

And who did the 2-handed baseball swing to the face? Closest we've come to that all year in the league was Avery's chops on Komisarek's legs.

Briere. It wasn't a baseball swing.....that's why I qualified it with "baseball swing-esque".

Obviously not a baseball swing, but as you can see, he swung it in the same direction as someone would swing a baseball bat. It was definitely not in a cross-checking motion. Also, he swung it at Nielsen's face, not the back of the head. Neither were good plays.

Personally, I think Colon was a little premature regarding this Semin decision...

sorry dash, can't give you rep, but I would have.

Regardless of Colon's interpretation, Semin should have been discharged from the game.

i dno.. i just think briere kinda missed, and it was more of a punch to the face, then a baseball swing to the face.. semin landed exactly how he intended to land.. its one thing if you're going to punish briere for having a more vicious intent, but i think liles had a higher chance of getting injured than nielson did, and in the end, isn't that what these suspensions are trying to eliminate? chances for a serious injury?

i think if nielson pops back up and liles milks it in similar fashion to how nielson did react, we're talking about 2 for semin and none for briere, and thats a big problem

i definitely think briere should've been suspended, dont get me wrong, but i think semin should have had an equal punishment, or at the very least a 1 game suspension

I wouldn't mind if your take on it happened in reality. Don't get me wrong, I'll admit Colon Campbell has a tough job.....but he makes his job much, much tougher with his interesting takes.
