Buckle up!!
Does it even matter? Regardless of this one woman and what happened to her, tens of millions of people (especially the poor and vulnerable, including millions of kids) don't have health insurance and are at risk. In the richest county in the world. In a supposedly predominantly Christian nation. In a county paying the most for healthcare for some reason.
I've personally hesitated to go to the doctor in the past because of high co-pays or not having insurance at the time and that's bullshit. And it happens to tens of millions of people. Socialized medicine countries do it cheaper and better. They live longer, it doesn't cost them as much, and everyone has access to healthcare.
Let's repeat that - it's cheaper.... it's better... and everyone has access to it.
This shouldn't even be a debate. We should be moving to the system that is better in literally EVERY single way. But we aren't due to (1) rich lobbies, (2) half the country fearing the word socialism in an already predominantly socialist society because they're fucking dumb as a bag of Doritos, and (3) we are easily distracted from our duties as a citizen because...
Sorry, Doritos sound good. I'll be back later after I get some Doritos. Probably Cool Ranch.
I love Cool Ranch!! Now I'm off to my Canadian doctor to get this runny nose looked at because my doctor, like most Canadian doctors, offers free bags ofCool Ranch (as well as Ketchup chips) in their waiting room.
