The Mariners have to be aggressive in improving the offense this offseason.

On paper we have a great rotation, a solid bullpen but a mediocre lineup.

Front office can't just sit on their hands and hope that a good young team is just going to improve through improvement from young players. If we want to be a World Series contender we need significant improvement in the lineup. Let's not forget how poorly this season started and that last season 90 wins wasn't enough to get to the playoffs.

As probably the biggest Ty France supporter on this forum, I agree 100%. When he's healthy I think he has a ceiling of a .320 hitter, but whenever he gets hurt he gets rushed back and plays like shit.
I will ask you the same question- How do we know he was hurt? People assume when he slumps he is hurt, but how does a hurt player take crazy amounts of BP at full speed? That doesn't equate.

After returning from injury, he seems to think he is healthy. Doesn't even get regular treatment and takes a ton of BP.

It’s dumb not to get treatment whether it is my theory of his injury or yours of fatigue. And taking a ton of extra BP is kind of dumb in either of our theories as well.

You won’t know if he was hurt. But it is the only answer when both of his full seasons in the big leagues he has looked really really pre having to take time off because of getting hit. All sorts of things can go into his slumping because of the injury not just that he still had a bone bruise.

Not the only answer. Dead legs is another answer. I can't believe any org would let a guy with an injury live in the batting cages at night. Just no way.

Mariners don't have to trade..they can put Gonzales and flex..in the bull pen..and be fine.
Going forward..

They should look to resign hanniger and Boyd though..imo..yes sir..lock up that long relief..

Boyd is better in relief...than as an ace..and he.
Is not young,..an other..ulmax ace..in the hole.
But not as good..as .,.double double duce.. oolo

Mariners are looking for improvement..not.
More be problems..

Trade Gonzales..to San Diego..or Pittsburgh.
Put flex in the be bull pen as well..
With Boyd as long relief,.,or just go six guys or 5th guy....Gonzales for Snell sounds good,..

And the chances of Snell signing with the mariners..is good,,at a reasonable price..for both sides..

Not many options..left..for mariners bull pen,

Brash still has many..and so does murphee.

I think festa has 1 more .so that makes a big..

Difference,,in the number of bull pen guys.

With limitations in place on defensive shifts next year, it's time to move away from the all-or-nothing hitter types. The 'three true outcome' guys. We need professional hitters now, guys who can hit to all fields and are willing to shorten their swing when they are behind in the pitching count. What we really need are nine Ty Frances.

I wish they would bring in Michael Brantley. He's probably too old to start more than 100 games, but he could show these younger guys what it means to be a professional hitter, especially our lost-at-the-plate outfielders like Trammel, Kelenic, and Lewis. Brantley would be like a hitting coach on the active roster.

Funny I mentioned that on here two years ago and people didn't agree thinking he would block certain prospects...lol. You don't prospects that can't hit. The ones that can break through no matter what.
