for a few years anyway....at a certain point...of not adding to maney minors free agents..

yeah i knew..they considered..miller better...but hey..they all wanted hancock...he is still good..lolol

By adding some commin..sense...ok then..

Ryan Divish

ttps://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/analysis-what-mariners-roster-would-look-like-if-season-started-tomorrow/

“I don’t think we have to, but I think we’d like to,” Dipoto said at the winter meetings. “We’re going to continue to try to, but I do think that we are we’re about as balanced as any team that I think I’ve ever had. We have young, in-their-prime players at every position on the field, including the upside of Jarred Kelenic in left field.

“Our challenge now becomes how to … add another player who can take some of that pressure off of JK, or Taylor Trammell and give us the ability to rotate at designated hitter. That’s the piece and we do need that. That player doesn’t play for us right now. … I feel confident that over 162-game season, somewhere along the way we’re going to find that player, whether he’s currently in-house, I can’t say.”

The Mariners should be considered an unfinished product. It makes the idea of projecting the 26-man roster seem sort of silly. Common sense tells you that there will be at least five things that happen that will affect the active roster.

I am kind of speechless on a couple things Dipoto says here. I will see if others see the same thing.

i hear..jedi..saying..2 things....what he can do...right now...without a trade.......and that he is still looking for trades.....with only a few..trades to make..

they woud not.......be a lot......that would suit......i would think...

Think they should keep Brash. I like his stuff and see him improving even more throughout the season.
I am not sure which I like him better at, starting or relieving. I think he could be a stud reliever, but value is always bigger as a starter. But his stuff is hard to find at either job.

If the couple things are: 1. Kelenic and 2. Trammel Yea I am pretty speechless as well

Its like he already has them both on the opening day roster touting how they have lit it up in off season hitting workouts :L

Trammel needs to go - plain and simple. Bundle him up in any manner to get rid of him.

Kelenic - IF and that's a BIG 'IF', if he breaks camp and has EARNED a spot on the 25 man roster, I think you play him fulltime in LF or RF against both lefty and righty pitchers. If ( another IF ) if he is batting .225 or higher on that split after 3-4 weeks, let it roll and see if he can get more comfy and battle his way to .240-.250

If he struggles against left handed pitching but he is hitting .240 or higher off of righties, consider platooning him with someone and he is in the lineup against righties only. If by May 22 he is batting below the Mendoza line... HE IS GONE. back to Tacoma ( to stay ) or package him up with Trammel and offer them up as dumb and dumber and take the 1st decent offer for them both or cash considerations for a future deal.

If both Trammel and Kelenic are on the opening day roster the Mariners have FAILED as a ball club.
Not the two things I was looking at, but I 100% agree and would add them to my list.

Mine:

1- Dipoto said there are “a variety of reasons,” but he thinks a big one is that a lot of teams that had been rebuilding are now “moving north” and are adding impact MLB talent rather than looking for “future value.”

So what he is saying that teams below them last year are now going for it and adding MLB talent. So why aren't you? That irked me.

2- “One of the advantages of acquiring Cooper Hummel in the Kyle Lewis trade is the potential for having three catchers on our roster, which would then allow us to run one of our catchers into a DH day in an advantageous way,” he said. “That’s the way we’re looking at DH.”

Have we not gone down this road a million times and have fallen off the DH cliff every time? Again, we had a .176 AVG from our DH's last year with backup catchers and utility guys playing the position. How can he say tis crap with a straight face. Blame Stanton, and I do, but this BS is what kills me about Dipshit.

3- Yours.

They don't even plan on him starting so it is reliever with trade value going down with each word he speaks.

People around different fanbases are going nuts about not wanting Bauer. I doubt the P.C. Mariners would venture into the mess. I just don't see it.

But with that said, it makes perfect sense. Every time I think one way, they go the other so...
I 100% get the reason why teams wouldn’t touch him, but all it takes it a really good PR team which the Mariners have. It just seems ownership is a lot more flexible with cash if it is a pitcher.

Number 1 100% agree and why it is so dumb for people who are upset with fans for wanting free agents. The Rangers are closer to Seattle now than Seattle is to Houston. I am so sick of his goddamn quotes that when you break it down is just our goal isn’t to win the World Series.

With number 2, I still have not heard a single reason that makes Tom Murphy a vital part of the 2023 success. What am I missing?
